No bugs in v1.10? Hmm, you'd be the only one so far that didn't hit any, if the posts here are any indication.

There really isn't a good way to summarize all the issues, with so many different things happening with the different versions, so I'm going to link back to this thread in the list.

BIOS: scph1001.bin
Game ID: SLUS-00067
Name: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (US-NTSC)
OS: Windows Vista Basic
Hardware: Pentium 4 3.0 gig., 2 gig. Ram
Disc image: ccd and from original disc
pSX version: 1.12

Tested and discovered the same bugs (music not looping, loading wrong tileset when reinsert image, hangs when loading, random loss of control.) found in 1.6, only more frequent for some reason. Stick to 1.10 for now.

I can confirm that last report. Same old, same old. As before, the game is playable, just make sure to save often and remember to use that loading corridor freeze prevention method mentioned earlier.

I should probably go back and test the 1.10 version more thoroughly (no bugs at all? :o ) and see if I can make them manifest. :)

Here's a save that hangs for me 100% of the times with any version of pSX (v1.7-v1.10 crashed when loading it). Just try going to the other area at the left.
I tried with two different cd's and their respective images/cdz and they all hanged.
Using the eject trick worked.

Yeah, I completely forgot about this thread. I have witnessed atleast the music not stopping and the transition room freeze in 1.10, so it too isn't bug free.

The "enter the menu, fast forward through the almost freeze, exit menu" works as well. It's just one of those regular transition room almost freezes.

Ubuntu Linux 8.04
pSX 1.13
SLES 005.24 (that's how the save states read anyway...)
BIOS 1001 and 7502 both tested

The game simply does not respond to any input. Other games work fine, this one I can't get past the title screen. Any ideas why?

The last data for the PAL version of this title since v1.7, with the game reportedly working fine in v1.6

Can you please go back and test other versions, starting with v1.6, to see if the game runs in any of them?

So far, there have been few problems with using pSX in Linux versus Windows, but anything is possible.

I should add a general caveat: if a game hasn't been tested in a half a dozen versions, and you're using v1.13 and hit a problem, please test older versions as well up to and including the last version reported. This goes a long way in not only providing as much data as possible to the compatibility list, but in tracking down where problems are occurring.

smegforbrain,

It turns out my problem was much more simple than that. The game doesn't support Dualshock or Analog controllers. I set my controller to "Normal Pad" and it worked just fine. Haven't played much since figuring that out, but that was the only issue.

BTW, version 1.6 and 1.7? What are you referring to? I'm running Linux, so the only versions of the program I know of are 1.11 1.12 and 1.13...

That's right, hooya, those are the only Linux versions there are. I guess smeg (who tends to be quite busy) didn't notice you said you were using Linux.

Blah. I'll just say I hate Linux and leave it at that. ;)
