Game Title: Parasite Eve II
Game ID(s): (any?) / SLUS_010.42
pSX Version(s): 1.09, 1.10, 1.11, 1.12 (Windows)

As mentioned in the compatibility list, "Freezes at 'Published by Square Electronics Arts, LLC' screen"

I've been playing around with several images to see if I could find a way around it. Unfortunately, I believe the PAL and NTSC-U versions may be copy-protected. However, I've read that the NTSC-U version does indeed boot with ePSXe, but eventually freezes after a certain boss event. I'm not sure if this is prompted by the copy-protection scheme or not.

I searched long and hard for a patch, but the only one available is for the PAL version. I'm not even sure if it makes the game playable, as I have not bothered with it. Should I check it out, or has anyone else tried it already?

I really would like to find a work-around for this game. PE2 is possibly one of the best PSX games ever created. It would be a shame if we could never get it working.

Parasite Eve 2 uses an extremely broken movie player - I'm really suprised it worked on real hardware!

I have already looked at it, but didn't manage to get it working - I will look at it again soon.

Sorry to disagree, your highness, but actually, the game's movie player not only is quite good, but its quite impressive for a PSX game movie player!

The movies look great, and have a better framerate than most games on the real hardware. Also, sometimes the movies can even be played backwards (when the scenario itself is a movie, if you go back, the movie plays backwards). One thing that I like is that if your console stops reading the CD for a moment in a movie, the movie just pauses then continue. Something that I never seen on a PSX (seen this on the PS2 though)!

Also, I DID finished this game on PSXeven, and it was almost perfect. EPSXE crashes a lot, but not on movies, and there's actually a way around it.

I'm outa here. Since the author doesn't even have a little respect for the people who decided to follow his project, WHY should we still come here?

I'm guessing when pSX Author refers to the player, he's referring to the code behind the player itself, not how it looks when you're actually playing the game. :)

Have you ever programmed something? There are many programs that have a fucked up source code but working simply great from a simple way of view.

I've played parasite eve 2 (PAL UK PATCHED) on epsxe 1.6.0 and works fine. However when i tried to play it on my psp, I get the same problem as i get with pSX emulator. Until i found a tutor video on youtube, which shows that all you have to do is change the psx id from SLES02558 to SLPS 00025. But since i don't how to change the psx id, on my backed up image, I remain with the same problem

It's very simple (just like editing any document on your PC). Open the file that needs to be changed with Notepad, edit as required and save the file. Then, using a CD image editor/manipulator like for example UltraISO, replace the old file on the CD image with the new file and save the image.
