Looking good! So... what ideas do you have for the possible new skin? Do you know how easily this thread could turn into "request a skin"...?

I have none in mind actually so I wouldn't mind taking requests. There's really no advanced features in terms of customizability with the forum skin on proboards. You can basically change colors of certain things and text, change icons, main background, main logo and so on. So it wouldn't be that hard.

Could you try something with a black or deep electric blue background and silver text? Beyond that, you could figure out the rest.
The logo needs a change. It simply looks outdated.

If you can give me a good example of the blue or black background you have in mind, I can recreate one. The background would also look better if it was a seamless texture so text may look a bit odd when text is repeated over and over.

I wasn't speaking of a texture at all... simply the color. For the blue, something along the lines of #1000A0... not *really* too electric, but about the best I can think of right now...
For the text, I was thinking about #C0C0FF.
If you want a background texture for your new one... I'll have to think on it a little bit.

Whoops. Sorry, I didn't get what you meant until now. It was 3 am when I posted that. I was tired . Anyways, I changed the background color to the one that you sugggested but the text was too light to really be seen so I kept that black and put the background color back to normal. I'll have to make more tests on the test skin before I screw up the official one. Here's the different types of things you can change in the forum if you want to help out: www.proboards.com/images/skins-example.gif

If anyone is interested here are some of the new icons I'm doing. These are not final, actually just an old preview I showed to TheCloudOfSmoke before. www.hostfile.org/psxmbmenu.png

I say throw it in the default skin. They look real good to me. They're waaaaay better than the crappy Proboards default icons.
BTW: does Proboards allow transparent .pngs?

It should, and they do! They are active in the pSX Emulator theme.

Yeah, you just reminded me that I needed to update to the final release, though I was already able to see them just fine. Now we'll see how the final version of IE7 runs compared to the RC that I had...
Awesome icons, by the way. I always use the pSX Emulator theme, so I noticed them right away and was glad to see them. Much better than the old ones.

Ah, I just switched to the pSX Emulator theme, forgot to switch a long time ago xD I'm still annoyed with a bunch of the default ProBoards images... Here's to hoping the next theme replaces most (if not all) of them (The ranking stars I especially dislike -- they remind me of the old YaBB) Some other stuff... I can't seem shake off the feeling that purple links are visited links, and red are active... very disorienting =o By the way, I thought the logo image was too close to the border, so I padded that table cell a bit (by 3 pixels). Which brings me to another point... beyond the usual color changes and stuff, CSS can be used, and on that note, I leave the possibility of more advanced stuff open If you guys need help with CSS, I'm always willing to provide. At this point, I'm putting the <style></style> tag in the global header, but I think that if we start doing more stuff with CSS, and it starts growing, we're going to have to put it in a separate file and link to it from somewhere (a permanent host) to save forum browsers' bandwidth (since their browser will cache the .css file).
