Obviously. I personally think it's a good idea, if feasable, to keep around a system with, say, Win98 on it. My first computer (which is around purely for old gaming... not nearly good enough to run pSX), runs Win98 on it. And... I recently put my second computer back to W2k again... I just couldn't resist. Always good to keep a machine with a real version of DOS on it, at least I think so... and apparently, so does patrickp.

And the funniest thing of all is - what are we all doing here? Emulating a console that actually predates Windows 95... In fact, some Playstation emulators, admittedly no longer developed, require fixes to run under W2K or XP. Even Playstation emulation is contemporary with W98.

Every time I break pSX under Win98/ME I get quite a few emails, so there do seem to be a lot of people still using it... they probably just don't post here!
It really isn't that much trouble to make it work - I just need to be a bit careful.

Has this WIP been updated since the test? If not, is there a WIP available for download?

If there's a WIP available, pSX Author will offer it. Unfortunately, when he does post them, it's only one at a time, so this WIP (AIR it was a WIP for 1.10) is no longer available. However, pSX Author incorporated the modifications in this WIP into 1.10, so why not just download that?

pSX Author uses the same URL for all the WIPs he posts.
The one that's up now is dated 18th November 2006. Version 1.10, the current version of the emulator, was released on 4th November 2006. So the current WIP, which has been there for nearly a month, is a 1.11 WIP - and that's what you'll get if you download from any of pSX Author's posted WIP links right now.

Should we be testing the wips? Even though not everyone is testing those or didn't know there is a link.
I wonder how the next wip going? I haven't seen pSX talking about it anymore.

If there was something pSX Author wanted us to test, I think he would've told us, so there probably isn't much difference between the WIP and the current public release.

Very true, especially considering the latest WIP uploaded is only a week newer than the official v1.10 release.

drwhojoe: No matter what intentions you have, if you try pulling a stunt like that again, you're going to earn yourself a nice ban. Don't know what I'm talking about? Read the rules -- heck, read the first sentence in the Global Announcement up above. You've earned yourself a 5% warning.

Wow... I can't believe he actually did that. I thought we got past those times of people posting links to places like that. Ultima: You know... you sound like an angry police chief chewing out some fresh rookies... ;D drwhojoe: pSX Author has already stated that it most likely wouldn't work on Win95 because... (if I recall the reason correctly)... it lacks advanced enough support of DirectX.

I use Windows 98 on both PCs here with dual boot (both PCs have WinXP + Win98). Since I'm an old gamer, this happens a lot. Win98 is a must for me.
