GM asked on another thread if someone could test this game with a PAL bios but it seems he didn't see my reply so I'm going to quote it here. I tested this using pSX 1.9. I'll have to hunt down my backup image as I can't find my original copy anymore by sure I'll test it GM. [EDIT] Good news, Yu-Gi-Oh!: Forbidden Memories [SLUS-01411] works when you use a European BIOS. Here are a few screenshots: Game running under SCPH1001.BIN or scph7003.bin (US) BIOS: Game running under SCPH7502.BIN (EU) BIOS: I ran the game straight from a cue/bin image I had. Hope this helps GM. I only played as far as the menu though so I can't be sure if it plays 100% yet. This should as least help out some though.

I guess this is a copy protection, issue, GM? Hm, haven't seen him around for a while... Must be catching up on his zzzzzzzzzs. Thanks for that, haldrie - good to know GM's alien BIOS theory is working out.

Legend of Dragoon, The [SCES-33047] shows the same screem if you try to play it with scph1001.bin bios, but if I use scph7001.bin if I remember it well, you can play it.

This is certainly an interesting revelation: we've found now that with some copyright protected games, and possibly others that wouldn't load before, that if you use a PAL bios, the game works. This has now been confirmed for both NTSC-U and NTSC-J games.
Can somebody else confirm what lilo said, that by using an NTSC-U bios on a PAL copyright protected game it might work?

I tested again and works only with scph7502.bin bios, sorry for the error. I tested it with all this bios.
scph1000.bin scph1001.bin scph5000.bin scph5000-alt1.bin scph5500.bin scph7001.bin scph7502.bin

Haldrie: Thanks for that. Indeed, I missed your reply. I'm glad my theory has turned up some interesting results. I still have the sneaking suspicion that it has to do with the specific type of protection being used... but until I can find a list of at least *some* games that mentions the specific type of protections implemented in the game, I have no way to test this theory. A patcher would be helpful to figuring this out, since it seems that most all of the games that work from this theory can also be patched... it'd be interesting to hear from a patcher what makes a game patchable or not patchable. Thanks again everybody... I will continue to seek more answers on this topic.

I tested again and works only with scph7502.bin bios, sorry for the error. Hmm. We've gotten previous reports for PAL-UK and PAL-FR versions of LoD, and none have reported getting the game to work so far. But I'm not sure any of them actually used other BIOS besides 1001. So LoD PAL-Spanish works with the 'ol' buggy' 7502?

I only use the 7502 bios for pass the error screen, when I go ingame I make a savestate and change the bios to 1001.

Nice trick.
Does the framerate change from 50 to 60 then? (press TAB in-game)
If not, that would indicate that your trick doesn't work 100%.

Not, the fps are 50 , can anyone say if the savestate save´s the bios or something related for decode de instructions of the game.

Lilo, what is the 'error screen'? Is that the same anti-piracy screen as shown in haldrie's post?

Forgot to mention, in relation to the first post... SCPH7003 is not a US BIOS... it's an Asian BIOS.

I just tried the game again with the SCPH1002.BIN bios (EU) and it works for it too. The game's frame rate is 60FPS with each bios. I played a bit in-game and it seems to be running perfectly. I even tested the 3D battles in the duels and I can't see anything wrong with the emulation.
And yeah I just recently figured out that SCPH7003 was an Asian bios. The game also runs on SCPH-1000 (J) bios.
Also, I can never get the SCPH-5520 (EU) bios that I have to work though. It keeps showing "r3000: executed illegal opcode" with 14 different hex codes after each line and just stays a black screen afterwards.

I tested it and the frame rate is 50 if the game is PAL and 60 if the game is NTCS, chanching the bios have no efect, you can play PAL games with the 1001 bios and with 50fps.
