Game Title: Xenogears (Disc 2) Game ID(s): SLUS_006.69 pSX Version(s): 1.13
After defeating Hammer, enduring the cutscene, and talking to Elly, the game cuts to an animated sequence, which freezes after a few frames. I quicksaved on Fei's last dialog box before the transition due to the inexorable amount of exposition one must wade through to get to this point.
Neither windowed nor full-screen mode, nor enabling/disabling VSync has affected this issue. I'm using a .bin image and SCPH-1001.
Have you tried the -r switch, darksol84? Try playing the game from the CD rather than the image; that used to be a fix when Xenogears was a problem game. Or failing that, mount your image and play it as a CD. You might also have better luck ripping your CDs to either the .ccd/.img/.sub or the .mdf/.mds format; these often work much better with problem games.
If the -r switch didn't work, try playing from the original CD, darksol84. Xenogears is reported as playing properly in recent versions of the emulator, but that used to be the standard fix when it didn't.

However, I subsequently encountered a bug where Deus goes to attack a party member and freezes, while the game waits for it to complete its attack.
Yeah. This bug even happens on some other emulators, and it was reported to happen on the PS2 too, and even on some PS1's.
But it is in fact its possible to beat Deus without seeing the attack that freezes the game.
Do this: when the fight starts, DON'T DO ANYTHING! Just keep skipping turns with your characters until Deus uses his attack that takes half of the HP of everyone, including his. DON'T ATTACK HIM! After this, keep skipping turns untill he do it again, and again...
Keep waiting until you can kill Deus with only one hit. Reember: he starts with 40000 HP. After the first attack, he will have 20000, then 10000, then 5000. You WILL be able to kill him with one hit when he has 5000 HP using System Id.
With this, there's a chance that the HP halve attack freezes the game too, but hey. You only need to see it 3 times, and the freeze is quite random. So keep trying, and you'll get past it. And always remember: this is NOT pSX's fault, since this is known to happen on the PS2 too.
I'm outa here. Since the author doesn't even have a little respect for the people who decided to follow his project, WHY should we still come here?
