it's my first time using psx as my PS emulator... im using epsxe before but i had some problems with some games thats why i decided to switch to psx... i'm playing final fantasy 8 right now, how come it is logging when i switch to full screen (alt+enter) especially during cut scenes... i cant figure out whats wrong with it, but it works perfectly fine when i switch the screen mode into a window size or even when i maximize it... i just encounter some logs whenever i switch it to full screen mode.. i wonder if there's something wrong with the configurations or what,.. i used to fix some probs with epsxe before, but i guess im still a newby with psx emu.. i hope you could help me with this one..
Which version of Final Fantasy VIII (game ID, please) are you playing, plo32? Also, are you playing from the original CDs, or from images - and, if images, what format? And what BIOS(s) are you using?
Do you get this problem with other games, as well?
As far as configuration goes, what changes have you made to the default settings on the Sound and Graphics tabs?
This is strange because normally, pSX runs better in full screen than in a window, and the specs you have posted look perfectly adequate.
BTW there's no need to make extra posts if you have something extra to add. Just edit your previous post - I see you edited your second post anyway, so you know how.
i'm supposed to play the first disc of FF8... i've encounter some lags at the scene in the beginning (after you choose new game) when i turn the screen mode to full screen,.. i am using iso's (img format) which i've got from [snipped site name].. also i tried the first disc of Final Fantasy VII, it has no lags except from some crackling sounds during the scene at the beginning (but i dont encounter it in epsxe before)...
i also tried silent hill, so far, there's no problem with the scene at the beginning... thats all the games i have, their all ISOs with IMG and MDF format,,, i am using scph7502 as my bios... and i havent change any of the configurations (cause im not sure what to change)...
technically, i haven't played any games yet because i only downloaded psx last night.i just tried the games i have from my epsxe emu before to know if their working in psx...
i've updated my driver once...i tried to disabled the VSync in full screen tab, the scene went fine but the graphics of the game itself became worse.... i didn't enabled the frame skipping and now, i set VSync into its default option.. and still, im experiencing lags during the first scene (full screen only)...
i dont know if this will help, but when i tried to enabled the status icons in graphics tab, "RQ" letters appear beside "CD" whenever it lags in full screen mode... what does it mean?
Ultima, I am very surprised that you have continued to offer support to one who has just admitted to illeagly downloading his games from [snipped site name]!!! this doesn't seem fair to others who I have seen shunned from the forums for this.
Very true, cid67. I think Ultima probably didn't notice: OP's posts seem to be somewhat rambling and incoherent.
plo32: it's a good idea for any new member to read the forum documentation (linked at the top of every page) before posting; unfortunately, almost everyone seems to think they're above things like that.
However, there's one notice at the top of every page that should be obvious to anyone with normal vision (quite apart from being common sense anyway); it's the:
Global Announcement The illegal sharing of copyright material will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, the sharing of disc images, ROMs, and BIOS images. We do not provide support for people who have obtained their games or BIOS images by illegal means.
Downloading games is illegal. This forum cannot be seen to support people who download games, since it supports a Playstation emulator and must maintain a clean reputation.
However, you've just discovered another downside to downloading games: the images are often not too good. The people who post them don't care: they just want to boast about the games they've posted; whether they've ripped them properly...
Ripping Playstation games takes care and correct technique, because the CDs are not in a standard format. Of the Final Fantasy series, for instance, many versions of VIII and IX are copy protected, which means that you have to take great care about ripping.
And the really stupid thing is that these games are not hard to get or expensive. Just look on Amazon, or ebay if you want to get the price down a bit - although they're not expensive anyway. Buy the games and rip them yourself - that's the only way to make sure you get good images - or play them from CD. See the HOW TO: Make Disc Images thread for advice on ripping.
5% warning, and I expect you to have read the forum documentation before posting again. Any further transgressions will likely get you a ban. If you behave yourself for a while and want the warning removed, PM an admin.

That, and the fact that I wasn't even aware what this so-called "[snipped site name]" was. In combination with his rambling and lack of capitalization, it's not that hard to miss. But I'll stop making excuses for myself now -- I can definitely agree that I've been a bit off my game lately.
(Yes, I've censored the site name out because there's no reason to name it here)
