He didn't do a very good job. Nor was what he did difficult at all. There are very many values that could've been used to make things work. And he wasn't very friendly anyway... maybe too full of himself or something, but he wasn't especially the helpful sort. He had more of that attitude of "it works, you're just doing it wrong", instead of trying to look into it.

Download this and read the document I included with it. If the codes don't work for you at all, paste the other two files in this zip file over the ones that came with CEP, then try again.

Yes, you can use a Gameshark (CD based) as if you were using an actual PSOne.

Well, after patrickp followed all my directions, he got it to work too. So my fix was at least *partially* successful. If I need to make the directions more detailed for them to be understood, I can do that too.
I'll have to test my fix with the v1.10 WIP... though I doubt there'll be too much trouble (I may have to move/expand the search range for the base address, but I haven't checked yet).

That's right, I did. So if a senile old git like me can do it... I notice you've included pressing the Search button into the basic instructions, GM - I would have thought that would get it working straight off. The only thing I can think of is that the codes I used were the ones you gave me. Is it possible that the codes johnmiller's got are naff? Perhaps you should include a few known good codes for a selection of games with your package? That way people could get a better idea of whether their problem is naff codes or something they're doing wrong.

Well, when I get back tonight, I'll work on the package to include codes to some games. The Search feature is the key, but it is based on certain parameters. Since it is not practical to search the whole program, a range has to be set. One that is small enough that an address can be found in a reasonable time (not to mention when I tried a wide range, it couldn't find the base address), but wide enough that it can actually find the base address with a reasonable deviance taken into consideration. apocalypse: Well, I have all the Final Fantasy games (NTSC-U), so if you're using the NTSC-U version of any of them to test codes for, could you post them here so I can test them? To be honest, that goes for anybody else here too... If you have a game where codes are not working for it, list the information and the codes. Even if I don't have the game to help test with, maybe somebody else who's having decent success with CEP can test them. Just so y'all know... I specialize in NTSC-U RPG's (by far, I have more RPG's than every other genre combined).

I have many discs, if you count my friends' collections that I have for testing purposes and just because they don't play PS games and let me borrow them indefinitely.
I enjoyed a little cheating in FFVIII after beating it a few times. Many games can be revitalized with a little inventive cheating. The custom job codes for FFT are a very good example.
I'll search through the games and see if I find this Tomb Raider game you speak of. I'm guessing you mean codes that specifically work with CEP? I only ask because you said you borrowed your friend's GS and figured you'd start using that.

Pcsx2... it's gonna be a year or two at least before any other emulator comes up that works even *half* as well as Pcsx2. So try that one out if your computer can handle it (even with the top of the line computer, you won't get full speed on most games).

Yeah, it took me a while to run a game at 45 FPS. The Comuter had over 5 GHz and over 3 GB Ram. I wish I could have kept it....

That... sounds impossible... I've never heard of anything even close to 5 GHz, except maybe government computers. And besides... I'm pretty sure that even if you had a crappy graphics card, a computer with 5 GHz of processing power and 3 GB of RAM would be able to play Pcsx2 at full speed no problem. Even my computer (a 2.93 GHz with 512 MB RAM) can play games at a minimum of 25 fps (and a few of my games run higher than that). And that's taking into account my integrated graphical piece of crap. I'd imagine that getting about 45 fps would occur more likely on a 3 GHz processor with 1 GB of RAM and a decent AGP video card.
Making a cheat file is pretty annoying when it has to be done manually. Still working on it... and looking for a way to quicken the process a bit (like by copy/paste somewhere in the process). So until then... still working on it. For now, I'm sticking to games that I own and play, cuz I'd rather not start out by testing a bunch of cheats for *all* the games in my possession. Eventually I may, but for now, adding/testing cheats for around 30 games is more than enough for a start.
