Whenever I now try to open PSX, the bios appears but the main application does not, in as much as it is visible on the taskbar but not anywhere else...I tried alt tabbing but it still refuses to appear :S

Get pSX Frontend and try running pSX with it.

What do you mean by "the bios," amanaman? Do you mean the DOS window that accompanies pSX' main window? Do you get any error messages? What version of pSX are you using? What change(s) have you made between pSX not working and pSX working (since you say "Whenever I now try to open PSX," I presume it worked before?)? What sort of system are you using? Maybe you've been hanging around forums with resident psychic help but here, I'm afraid, you have to tell us about your problem.

Sorry for my lack of detail, patrickp but that is the core problem. But yes I am referring to the DOS window, there are no error messages (I actually hear audio), I am using the latest version and as far as I know I did not make any changes. However, I do now recall this happening to the last version I had, but upgrading to the latest version solved the problem so I did not look into it any further. It was working yesterday

Certainly got to be worth a try, Ultima, and your Frontend is well worth using anyway. amanaman: what about system specs - and what OS? If this is happening spontaneously, with no apparent changes, I think something must be wrong with your system. But we're still waiting for information - and have you tried Ultima's pSX Frontend?

(Just for clarification, I ask because the frontend centers the emulator screen, and I suspect that it's a case of the emulator being offscreen for him)
Another question... do you hear any sounds when the emulator is started?

He says "I actually hear audio," so presumably he does. Yes, the emulator being off screen is very likely - that would also explain why it happens without any changes, as the emulator does tend to wander around.

Think you were right, Ultima... You may have noticed that pSX doesn't always open in the same place on your desktop, amanaman, it sort of wanders around. This is a Windows thing - it happens with a lot of applications. What's happened is that it's wandered so much it's actually gone off your desktop. One of the things Ultima's pSX Frontend does is to start pSX in the centre of your screen each time so, problem solved! However, check the Frontend out. It's the perfect adjunct for pSX - you can set up every game you have to start exactly as you want - with the appropriate BIOS set, in a window the size you want or full screen, with the controller mode set, memory cards set, etc - pretty much everything you might want to change on a per game basis. You can also set pSX to run with specified command line switches (one of these being the full screen option) set. It's also pretty - you can set an icon for each game profile you set up, so if you collect/create a nice set of icons for your games, it'll look really cool!

Yeah, I had a browse over the various options, seems like a worthwhile tool. Thanks for the help by the way.
