How do I use FFTEdit or FFTastic with PSX? has anyone tried this? Id really like to know if its possible with PSX. I am unsure what kind of format PSX uses to save game saves. If you know please tell me. thanks again.

You've intrigued me. I've never heard of these utilities before. I always just used Gameshark codes to customize my game (usually to create my own custom team to use throughout the game... a way to make things interesting, but in such a way that it's a challenge). I'll go take a look at these utilities and get back to you, as they sound interesting. Edit: Just tried FFTedit... it works fabulously. I had to convert my memory card file to .gme format first of course. After playing around with a bunch of options and setting a lot of non-standard things for Ramza, I converted my file back to .mcd format and loaded it. Everything worked just as it was supposed to. I really like FFTedit now, as it seems to let me play with more in terms of characters than the Gameshark. Of course, I can't adjust things like what actually goes in the command menus, but I was never really concerned with that stuff anyway. So I guess I'll try out the other one now and see how that works out. Edit 2: Now I've tested FFTastic, and it works just as well, and with the same requirement of needing to convert the memory card file to .gme first. So to give you a final answer... while it requires converting the memory card file to .gme first (which you'd need to do no matter what emulator you use, as .gme is the DexDrive format used by no emulator I know of off-hand, though some may use it)... Both programs work very well with no problems besides any you may have with the programs themselves (such as setting some really bad settings for a character, like changing Ramza to a different character... ). So feel free to enjoy using either program...

- Download this program and start it up (click OK when the message box pops up, it's not important). - Hit Ctrl+O and navigate to your memory card to load it. - Hit Ctrl+S and from the bottom box, select "DexDrive Memory Card Image File (*.gme)" from the list, give it a name in the box above it, and save it. - Start up whichever program you want to use, and goto File -> Open to load the newly converted memory card. - If using FFTastic, it'll automatically detect what slots your FFT saves are in. If using FFTedit, it'll detect only the first slot that holds a FFT save, so you'll have to know or find what slots they're in if more than one. Either way, select one of the slots that you have a FFT save in. - If using FFTedit, be sure to goto Settings -> Easy Mode. With that on, it won't let you make changes that have been deemed unsafe for a save file. For that reason, if you feel uncomfortable with possibly picking the wrong stuff, you should stick to FFTedit until you get the feel of things. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else you want to know. A lot of the options and features of the programs are self-explanatory. FFTedit, overall, makes things a lot easier with the options, so if you want to play around with things in your save file, just play around with FFTedit a bit in Easy Mode to get the feel of things. Oh, and to convert your file back, load it in PSXGameEdit again, hit Ctrl+S and select "Bleem! Memory Card Image File (*.mcd)" from the list, give your card a name again, and hit Save. You can now load it in pSX or most any PS1 emulator to play with. As a note from the creators of the two programs... when you first see your file on the load screen, you won't see your changes (for instance, if you change Ramza's level from 10 to 21, it'll still say 10), but as soon as you load your file, simply save it right away to see the changes reflected. FFTastic will change your name on the load screen, but don't worry when you see it... that's basically telling you that was the file you modified, and when you load it you'll see that your name is still whatever you set it to be. If you have any specific questions about one of the programs features, be sure to ask. But besides that, I encourage you to play with them a bit on your own first...
