I disagree. If I were to lose my internet for 3 months for whatever reason, or something more serious, I would really hate to come back and find my account deleted for not posting during that time. Post count should definitely matter when pruning.

I, for one, would agree with that, Mika.

I don't know about in other countries, but in the US the libraries have internet access that can be used. People have cell phones that browse the internet at high speed (me being one of them). Schools have internet. Businesses have internet. Like that one time I was out of internet for a while... I found a way not only to let you guys know, but I was still able to come on here and there. If nothing else, friends could be asked to simply sign up here and let us know that getting on here won't be possible for a while.
I can understand the point, but it's the same concept of a job... businesses are not going to accept the classic "I had no way to contact you" line, because they know there is *always* a way to do so, unless under a dire emergency. So I suppose for only the possibility of a dire emergency like ending up in a coma, post count should matter. I guess it's not like it's hurting anything to have a few extra accounts sitting around anyway, right?

Yes, it's possible to access internet everywhere these days, which is exactly why I said "something more serious". I could end up in the hospital tomorrow for 3 months or something. Worst case scenario of course, but I'd hate to be erased from the internets and have nothing to say about it.
On a related note, just a few days ago I pruned one forum I admin and I generally only prune everyone with 0 posts, nothing else.

Yeah... that's probably best. In the end, I couldn't bring myself to do it anyway, cuz I'd just keep having this feeling of "what if they come back", and I don't like leaving that kind of feeling.
I guess I'm still rather confused and annoyed that emulover is still an admin even though he rarely ever posts anymore and doesn't even visit too often. It just doesn't make any sense to me. I think patrickp has done a great job of filling in any gaps that might've been left in the administration, and emulover should probably be revoked of his admin status for lack of ever being here. I have nothing against him of course... it's just that I don't understand why he's kept as an admin if he does absolutely nothing in that capacity. Does he do things behind the scenes that we don't know of maybe...?

In proboards admintools there isn't really all that much that can done behind the scenes. In general, around communities on the internets, demotions do not happen even if the user is no longer active. They are respected for their past work and their status remain. A honorary status I'd say.

Ahh... I did not know that. I've spent a lot of time on the internet, but I was more a /b/tard than a forum user, beyond lurking. And a lot of chatting with people and playing online games (like Yahoo Pool and Pogo games I mean). But it does make sense to leave it as an honourary status if nothing else. Thank you for clearing that up Mika... ^^

I am of course speaking only of what I have seen, which is not a huge sample of internets.

Same here. I am possibly away a LOT from various emulation sites due to several thing including lack of need to submit bug reports or ask question usually now since compatibility went up and know-hows from the FAQs got very common place.
Plus due to the fact it IS an emulator which classifies to me as a hobby software meaning since I play PC games I use pSX but only when I find the time or want to play one of my games.
Not only that pSX has been an a leveling out point in it's development meaning either there is only slow moving testing of bugs goign on, development is going slow due to creator's life, or simpy, there is really nothing left to do except find a bug, fix, or something that can be fixed.

Due to a limitation of the search functions of Proboards, Pruning has become nearly impractical. The number of users who have not logged in in the past 90 days with posts has overcame the search function.

I hate this 'purging', pruning or any similar activity... Action as this often lead to unnecessary spam, where members will post all kind of shit just to keep their account active. And please don't tell me board works faster, or it will help with backup... ;D Just my 2 cents... (one of purged members)

This gives the admins something to do.

This gives the admins something to do. ;D It just get's annoying as it happens. I try to register my user id on most boards that I have interest in. (mostly retro-gaming) That does not mean that I post on all of them, but if I have to do, I like to have my user name. (this way I have not to remember 1000 different user names for all sites I visit I really wish that this emu see the same amount of updates just like it's forum.

If just to save space there should be an option that allows user to set where option data should be kept, on server or cookie / JS App Data. For example the user list could be like this: awsdert; user1 user2 user3; where ";" would indicate that the user is only using one place to access the forum and does not need to keep his settings portable.
