Yes, certainly pSX supports .ccd/.img/.sub in Linux. All my images are that format. Try starting with the .ccd file. What game is it - have you checked it in the compatibility lists?

I played this game on the windows version so it should work... It's Guardian's Crusade. I tried opening it with the .cue file and it didn't really help... I'll try opening the .ccd right now.
Still hangs... Could it be because of my graphics driver? I have an nvidia card... and I'm using the nvidia-glx-new drivers on UbuntuStudio... hmmmm... The psx BIOS animation goes without a hitch, and it shows the cursor (which it didn't do in the windows version... maybe because of the bios that I was using...) in the bios menu...

The reason why the cursor shows/doesn't show, states, is which Type (Normal or Dualshock) you have your controller set to: this is the same behaviour as an actual Playstation. On a Playstation, if you have your controller set as digital, you get a cursor and you can access the BIOS pages, if you have it set as analog, you don't and you can't. Similarly, if your controller Type is set to Normal in pSX, you get a cursor and can access the BIOS pages; if the Type is set to Dualshock, you don't and you can't.
I don't know which version of Guardian's Crusade you have (perhaps you could post the game ID?), in the compatibility lists, the only entry is for a PAL version, which is down as working in v1.8 of the emulator. Time to post a game compatibility report?
Have you done glxinfo in a terminal to see if you have Direct Rendering enabled. I don't know about NVidia, but the last few ATI drivers have had problems due to incompatibilty with current versions of the XOrg driver, and don't work/enable 3D acceleration. Is the NVidia driver installed through your repositories or the latest one? If it's the latest, it could be a good idea to try the repository version instead; there may be a better chance of it working with your OS.

i used apt-get install nvidia-glx-new to install these drivers, yes direct rendering is enabled (checked using glxinfo | grep -i direct), and the version of Guardian's Crusade that I am playing is NTSC, it worked in the windows version. Not sure if this is relevant or not, but I'm not using the version of pSX from the site... I am using a version that I download from a site that was recommended by UbuntuGames (has an installer... meh... tis for the lazy person such as I... ), but it is version 1.11 nonetheless.

I presume that's dfreer's installation; that should be good, states. The reason I prefer the 'unpack pSX into a folder' method is that it's easier to access the configuration file if you want to do anything with it. BTW this is dfreer's thread in this forum, and this is his thread in the Ubuntu forums.

Unrelated note, but omfg there are links all over the interweb concerning my pSX packages, most of which are outdated. Crazy...

Boo no psx controllers rumble support for Linux. I have about 5 different controllers here and I was unable to get rumble working on any of them in Linux - as far as I can tell no drivers support rumble correctly at all in Linux. I found source code for a P2500 driver that nearly supported rumble but it was extremely buggy - the buggyness appeared to come from the driver subsystem itself though which may explain why no other drivers seem to support it. If this situation improves in the future I will enable the rumble support in pSX, but at the moment I cannot test it.

I finally was able to put a game running in pSX in linux... I had to convert the .img to .cdz to get it to run... otherwise it would freeze on me when trying to load the .img. It seems like a bug... I'm currenty using v1.12 at the moment... But version 1.11 also had a problem with loading the images. The linux distro that I am using is Ubuntu (UbuntuStudio and normal Ubuntu... it hapens in both distros)

(you may need to enable them in the config panel). Also, has the app actually frozen, or is it just waiting for something? (you can test this by pressing TAB to see if the info display appears or not).

FWIW I can confirm I've had no problem playing .ccd/.img/.sub images with pSX in Edgy (with v1.11) or Feisty (with v1.11 and 1.12) since the Linux WIPs for v1.11 were released. All my images are in that format.

I select the iso that I want to load and press ok and it freezes... the file dialog doesn't even disappear... I tried pressing the tab button to see the status but that freezes as well.

How did you make your images, states?
And please answer pSX Author's questions.

Sorry... The program just freezes... I enabled the status display icons and tried opening a file... but it still froze and no message or status icon appears. And this time I tried opening with a .ccd. Even .cue will not work...
