stranger90: The PS2's DVD-ROM drive is probably simply less capable of reading a scratched/damaged disc than the drive in your computer. It's pretty much dependant on the drive being used, and the PS2 drive is not known for being anywhere near the best in terms of reading discs. Not to mention, they wear out a lot faster than most computer DVD-ROM and DVD±RW drives, so that is probably a contributing factor too.

Here's a tip. There's a benchmarking tool that comes with Nero called 'Nero CD-DVD Speed' that will do quality tests on a CD or DVD after it has been burned. For those that don't have Nero, the program can be downloaded for free from here (I think it's the same, not 100% sure :-): www.cdspeed2000.com/I haven't bothered to educate myself about the techicalities of it, but the important thing is that this tool has helped me to find out which brands of blank DVDs to buy. For example my burner (it's a LiteON SHW-16H5S) always get above average to high quality scores with Imation, Verbatim, Sony and BenQ media. Discs that got bad quality scores in the program barely worked or refused to boot at all on the PS2 (though most were readable on my PC, albeit at slow speeds) - likewise when I use the brands I've mentioned they run with no problems at all - 100% success rate. Keep in mind that the media that works well with my drive might suck on yours, so don't complain to me if you don't get good results with the brands that I mentioned! Prepare to waste some money on shitty media until you find the brands that work well with your burner.

Sune_S: LOL... I use the same drive as you. Although I'm sure you don't need any confirmation, I have tried Verbatim and Sony blank DVDs, and they have both worked beautifully for me. Especially Sony, who both on CDs and DVDs has never let me down (although Memorex blank CDs have also performed extremely well for me on this drive). And yeah, that's the same program. Only one update older than the newest release (which isn't worth mentioning even). I should add (for those it may concern)... the program is free (as it's a full, free-to-keep-and-use version in the free demo version of Nero 7 that Ahead releases), so there isn't a problem of it being illegal in any way. Very great program... I've been using it too since the days of Nero 5, and it's always been good to me. As a note to everybody, I have tried Sony blank discs (DVD and CD) on many different burners, and they've always worked really well for me. So that's one good place to start when looking for blank discs. Same goes for Memorex CDs (their DVDs have never given me problems either, but I haven't used more than 25 of them, so I have no solid basis of experience to go from on those). And... Memorex CDs have always been great for overburning discs to at least 83 minutes consistantly (meaning... I've *never* had a problem overburning them to 83 minutes, but take care... results may vary, and overburning is deemed "unsafe" to your drive if caution is not observed).

I've an original copy of the game that barely runs in the PS2 (gives after 5 five seconds of play "Error Reading Disc" and then proceed)! But also my DVD drive aren't good (LG is crappy, I prefer NEC)! And like a DVD writer I've got a Pioneer, next time I will buy a Plextor ;D. My favourite CDs are Verbatim

I checked out the PS2 emulator the other day. It can run FFX, MGS2, and Burnout 3 at full speed. Mind you I do get many graphical errors. It runs but I'd dare not call them playable.

Well, ive got a working version of PS2 Emulator but the main issue is that the FPS blows when you try to run the game with a disc in drive. It can read it just fine, but at such a slow frame rate, ill have grand children before i ever get to the halfway point of the game.
Anyone know what the issue is, I know that the PEOP's Plugin Driver for the CD ROM has limited speed, 4x is the best it ever got. I need to know if anyone else know's where to find a better version because the main website hasnt updated much of anything recently but their rules on their forums.

Your computer is probably as rubbish as mine. I hardly even get over 9FPS in Final Fantasy XII most of the time. The BIOS menu seems alright, roughly between 30-60FPS. You might want to buy a more powerful machine with more processing power, RAM and graphical capabilities, if you can afford it, that is.
The PS2 emulator's disc speed will always be at 4X. Regardless of which plugin you use "totallyclueless", you will never be able to achieve transfer rates faster than a real PS2's DVD drive.

I know what PS2 game pSX can run, but I won't tell because maybe pSX Author doesn't want you to know. All I can tell is it runs at full speed which is very promising.
I must add that I really look forward to see ps2 emulation is pSX because all we have right now is pcsx2 and all it can run at a reasonable speed is a handful of games. Overall PCSX2 is for PS2 emulation what PCSX was for PS1 emulation: a pretty poor emulator. =/

xor: I'd almost say that was worthy of a warning (thread necromancy to try and flaunt something you almost certainly know nothing about), but either way, keep in mind that things like that are not looked highly upon here. Please take that kind of thing and go over to the PCSX2 forums at Emuforums.

As a matter of curiosity, when you say the PS2 priority is low and will take a long time, about how long do you mean? months? years?

It's hard to say at this point. Progress was apparently slowly coming along pretty well. But then suddenly, it's been well over a year since the last release. And there's been considerable work done since v1.13 was released, so it's not necessarily a matter of things coming to a standstill.
If anything, just assume it's going to be at least a year before anything significant occurs with PS2 emulation in pSX.

As far as I'm told yes, very near completion, if only pSX Author has enough spare time to finish it. So a hard guess on when.

I have a few questions
ive been trying to rip ps2 models (which is actully ok as long as I don't offer them for down load or sell them) but the plugins for pcsx2 make everything flat would psx do the same?
also you said only one game is playable but can you get in game with others?
anyway thanks
