Is it possible to generate a checksum on the PSX Game's executables and files? This way it could be easier to verify versions and conditions of the disc and image data. Although there is no good way to verify the media the game is on (the disc its self and the many Image formats), this may be the best solution given a small margin of errors. It could be made into types of checksum, the checksum of all the executables and a full checksum of all the files (as how the PlayStation would interpret the files and not the OS).

I tend to doubt that a checksum of the files would be of much help, as PlayStation games can be stored on more than just the data portion of the disc (which is why redump.org has this whole elaborate guide for ripping the game and its audio tracks et al). If anything, redump.org's efforts would probably be better to work with -- IMO.

Well thats the thing, many users would not want to do an elaborate process. This could simplify the process of verification.

Dunno... :-\ As I see it, the problem with not having a standardized dumping procedure is that it makes it more difficult to actually make good/identical rips. If people aren't given consistent/detailed/exact instructions as to how the games are to be ripped, then there are more variables that can affect the resulting checksums. If checksums vary too greatly (which can easily happen with haphazard ripping techniques), the entire process of comparing checksums becomes mostly moot.

Won't really work. The problem is that every reader is a slight bit different, and the condition of the disc and the condition of the reader add up to make it possible that you can read the entire disc six times and get six different results for the checksum. Basically, getting a "perfect dump" of Playstation discs is a hugely uphill battle.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's such a difficult thing to get a useful checksum (and so extremely prone to user error) that it'd cause more harm than good.
