I was pretty sure Sony had taken out the PSX chips from the Slim model... Well, I guess it doesn't mater. Not sure about the slim, but this happened with the PS3. To save costs, sony removed the "emotion" chip (i think) so that PS2/PS1 had to be emulated. Some models don't even let you emulate the older games, your just S.O.L. EDIT: According to wikipedia, the EE is still there, just a new version of it intergrated with some other chip (from what I understand of it): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2#Slimline
