I play FFT a lot and never have either of these problems. Is this the PAL version?

What is the game ID? You'll find that by mounting it with Daemon Tools and browsing the CD, or view it with some CD/DVD image editor, like UltraISO. The game ID takes the form S***_***.**

Ah, damn, forgot that you can see the contents of PSX discs. As for ID - SCUS_942.21

Which controller type do you have it set to? Dualshock, or normal?

strange - like i say - i play FFT a lot and I never have that problem. Are you using the -r command line option? I don't use that - its not necessary for FFT.

"Are you using the -r command line option? I don't use that - its not necessary for FFT." See ? Thats exactly the question i was asking the other day, if these option could hurt some games.
I did have -r option, tried playing without it, but the problem persists...

It could hurt certain games, but I haven't tried all games, so I don't know which ones.

try deleting your psx.ini file and if you are playing the game with a joypad, try disconnecting it.
