Hello all, I am having issues with what is probably my vedio card but I have to ask since Im not sure. I am trying to play The Legend Of Dragoon NTSC/U/C... SCUS94491... I used cdrwin3.9 to extract and patch my game using (pdx-lodu.ppf). worked great.. Testing this on psx1.5 and the epsxe1.6, only trying to make sure it was not the emulator. I am getting these strange colored lines from the movement of charactors movement at the start of the game. I have looked all over even ATI web site and am not able to figure this problem out. I do have all updated drivers. If needed I can get the versions. Computer Athlonxp 2500 / AIW9800 / 1GB ddr / 2plextor 1 ide and 1 usb. Here is one of the pics I tried to reply to you Ultima but the site said I could not reply to this post or something so Ill just reply here.. If I were using the original 4 disks then yes I get nothing cause of the protection, but I backed the first disk up using cdrwin walkthrough for protected games and patched it with (pdx-lodu.ppf) from the mega whatever site. I get into the game fine its just at the begining when I start the game all moving characters girl in blue, main character, and the guys ridding on the mobs or whatever they are called. all have these strange glitch in the graphics going from them to the edge of the screen Thank You for any help someone might give, I hope someone can help me with this:(

You can upload images at imageshack or something. Might the issue be caused by the fact that the game's copy protected?

Whoa, that definitely doesn't look like a copy protection problem... erm, I can't think of any possible explanations at the moment =T

Well, unfortunately, for all we know these patches available for copyright protected games are causing some unintended side effects. I tend to doubt that's actually the case, but I have to think the possibility exists. But that is really freaking looking, in a acid-induced way. I'll update the listing for this one to show that it's a yellow YES with patch. Titan, please let us know if the game becomes unplayable, or if you already consider it unplayable due to these weird graphics glitches.

Well let me ask this, would the (J) version of the patch work, because the one I used was a trainer + patch. It looks like a game shark cd being built into it. it askes pal=x and ntsc=o. then goes to the cheat screen which I just hit x to bypass. I would almost bet that its this darn video card which ticks me off cause I spent quite abit when this card came out. If I knew more about the settings on video card like anti-aliasing, anisotropic filters, and all these other settings which I could turn off to see if the settings on the card are whats causing it..Ill change and use my other video card tomarrow and see if that fixes it:(
Ill let you know how it works..bye all and have fun:)

titan, you do need to use a patch that's correct for the video standard (PAL/NTSC) and, if quoted, country/language of the game you want to patch.
Patches are generally made for the exact size and structure of one particular image. They will often give a warning if you try to use them on an imappropriate image. Obviously, if you do go ahead and patch the wrong image, the wrong values will be changed in the wrong places.

ATI sucks.... just kidding... it's really weird in emu if it's not emulator fault, i think...

Unlikely to be your videocard, r4zi3l - this emu processes video entirely in software. It is possible there's an issue with your patch; otherwise it could have to do with the way the emu is processing the video. Check the compatibility lists - see Ultima's and smegforbrain's posts for links.

It wasn't r4zi3l who reported this, it was titan =P
At any rate, if the wrong patch was used, that might very well be the problem here. Also note that having trainers/intros at the beginning of games seems to cause problems on a bunch of emulators, so I wouldn't be too surprised if that were the case.

You all are right its not the video card I used both my cards and a different computer and get the same glitch. I have only seen the one patch and that was the mega site and that with the built in trainer. The only other way I have heard is something about (petes) cd rom driver adding the patch as the game is being played or something, but I think I read that on emu forum or somewhere like that. Just to say I have tried the pal bios also and problem is the same, its not the emulator because epsxe 160 does the same plus it added the little green lines at different place on the screen, but thats a small detail compaired to this. If its ok to ask does anyone know of another patch, I just need the name of the patch so I can search some more. The only other thing thing Icould think of is maybe since both computers I have tried this on were Athlons, I have no clue, I just guessing... Ill keep looking and trying different things

Nah Athlon or not, that shouldn't be the problem. I don't believe pSX uses special processor instructions anyway. Um, I don't know, but there doesn't appear to be any other patch.

Well, titan didn't say whether the game is unplayable or not, so for now, I'll put it as yellow yes playable, but also include a note on the name of the patch saying it could be causing the graphics issues.

I guess you could play it but when you get to the next area and you fight a main char and his 2 henches, right after that there is a person in the shack and the old man sitting outside, and a bird on the fence. I say this cause on that screen those lines come from the 3 others instead of me...Ill put a pic here in a bit.
