Game Title: Mega Man 8 Game ID(s): SLUS_004.53 pSX Version(s): pSX v1.11
The game crashes right after defeating a boss monster, I've tried other things like: different file images, and running off the original game-It still crashes at the same spot. I've also got a crash dump file, let me know if you'd like me to post it. Other than for it crashing, the game runs perfectly

A boss monster? You could be more specific, rmarier83; also how does the game crash - in particular, are there any error messages in the DOS window?
Memory card saves are probably better than save states: they're smaller and should work for anyone who has the same game.
Have you tried different BIOSs (particularly a PAL one), and have you tried the -r switch? Also, if you're using the default configuration, try enabling VSync on the Graphics tab: this has fixed crashes for a couple of people recently.

Boss monster: I mean after defeating someone like Clown Man, you'd normally go back to the selection screen, but the game ends up crashing instead.
Yes, I have the V-sych option in the graphics tab checked. As for a BIOS, I'm unable to get a different type, anyways wouldn't the US game work better on a US BIOS? The BIOS I have: SPCH1001
Also, could you tell me more of this -r switch thing. Do I just type -r in the DOS box or is there more?
And no, nothing appears in the DOS box when the game crashes just the message in the emulator: Unhandled exception br0ken.

Surely, theerror message appears in the DOS Window, rmarier83?
Is this a specific boss you get the crash after, or any boss? And how does the emulator crash?
It seems that when game problems are due to copy/mod protection issues, sometimes using a BIOS from a different area sometimes works. It's always worth a try.
There are two ways you can use the -r switch: in a command line used to start the emulator (you can do this in a shortcut), or you can use Ultima's pSX Frontend: as well as using it to start games in pSX with whatever settings you want selected, you can also select the various command line switches available. Well worth a try - for its many other virtues as well as setting command line switches.

Surely, theerror message appears in the DOS Window, rmarier83? I think it appears in a small windows error dialog window with a nice ok button.

_Those_ OK buttons are _never_ nice, Mika! Edit: anyway, what happened to the FACE?

Well, pinging www.ieatpancakes.com, which is where the image is located, gets 'unknown host.' You must have it cached, kinghanco.

I seem to remember seeing the b0rked error message once or twice before, I don't remember in what context and with what game though. I don't have this Megaman 8 game atleast.
==OFFTOPIC== Maybe my host or dns was temporarily down, seems to work fine right now. Yes, the guy on my avatar is a bit reddish.

Well I'm back to testing it with frontend tried that -r switch and that had no effect on my problem. I said back then it happened after beating Clown Man, I also played the game again and tried it on Grenade Man-and the crash happened again after beating him too. -20 minutes later: I JUST found the problem! I mounted the image to a virtual drive and it works perfectly now, no more crashing!

I haven't had this problem, at least from the beginning of the game and beating Frost Man. I haven't tried beating the two you mentioned, but with no switches everything works perfectly for me. I create a cue/bin from my original disc and am loading the cue straight into the program, no virtual drive.

You didn't say what format images you were using, rmarier83. If you were using formats that include a .cue file or any other descriptive file, like a .ccd one, were you starting from the image file itself, or the descriptive file?

Actually, now I'm seeing this problem also, after beating Frost Man, no, but now after beating Clown Man it crashes but asks to save a dump. Despite my clicking 'Yes' to each dump it would like to save, all the dump files are 0KB, and it will keep asking to save dumps until you select 'No'. Since I'm testing this on a laptop using a PnP cd-rom on Windows 2000, I can't mount and run from an image (I think this isn't supported yet in pSX if I'm correct...reading from a PnP cd-rom) to check and see if the behavior is still present.

Testing on Windows XP still doesn't allow mounting image from virtual drive (Daemon tools tested only). Crash still present on XP and running game from original CD. I've uploaded a save state just before fighting Clown Man. I hope this helps psx author track the bug. Link: www.megaupload.com/?d=2HGX4PRE

Anyone got a copy of the game and can try it?
BTW, AIR you need a fairly up-to-date copy of dbghelp.dll in your pSX folder for the dumps to work, chipzoller. You may not want to bother; the dumps can be pretty big.
