pSX author, you are the best. CTR now is bootable thanks to the XA fix! Did not work if you haven't a pff patch (crashes when loading tracks). But Stranger90 have found from the megagames a pff patch and now CTR is playable! More information will give tomorrow, here's a shot ingame ;D

wow, that's pretty cool.
I wonder if this fixes some of the other games with XA problems as well...hmm

Yes, pSX and ePSXe are the only emulators that can run CTR (Xebra too, but since my driver can't read subcodes sector and Xebra doesn't support ppf patch, game hangs before going ingame )

EPSXE can run this? I could never play this on EPSXE.

I got the title screen up in ePSXe back in 2005, but after that this came up. Screen dumped both.
Opcode 27 UNK (PC 000ac40c) (11643,34)
It was probably a patch if anything, if it did run. 512x240 resolution.

Xebra too, but since my driver can't read subcodes sector and Xebra doesn't support ppf patch, game hangs before going ingame Apply the ppf patch to a CD image of the game, mount it to a virtual drive and run it from there.

Isn't the point of pSX to be able to run unpatched 1:1 copies of games? This sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

Think about it this way - if it only works with the patch applied, then that means it's the copy protection that's causing it to not work in the first place.
That's important information.

Er, game ID, please, stranger90 - and how are you playing the game? If the game is copy protected, you may find that it's simply that you're not using a drive that reads subcode well enough that's the reason it won't play unpatched. If you're playing in Windows, it's worth trying ASPI rather than IOControl. If you're playing from an image, it'll have to be a format that includes subcode (i.e. .ccd/.img/.sub or .mds/.mdf) and have been ripped with a drive, again, that reads subcode satisfactorily. Haldrie: I've often found that the reason pSX can't play a copy protected game is down to the reasons I've just outlined, not because of any failing in the emulator. For some reason, copy protected games seem more likely to play from CD in the Linux version than the Windows one. Edit: Yes, pSX and ePSXe are the only emulators that can run CTR (Xebra too, but since my driver can't read subcodes sector and Xebra doesn't support ppf patch, game hangs before going ingame ) Well, that's probably also why you need a patch in the first place, stranger90.

Guess I should have looked - but he is posting in the Game Compatibility thread, so there are 'save smeg's sanity' issues...
