Hi, I'm getting a "CD not usable: Not a CD drive" error message when trying to boot a game from my physical drives ( File > Insert CD drive). I have 2 drives which are a DVD-RW and a DVD. Could my drives not be identified as "CD" drives simply because they're DVD drives ? I'm running Windows Xp Pro Sp2 and have up to date Aspi drivers installed. On a side note , SPTI support for CD access would be nice for later releases if one is ever planned. Thanks for your time and work.

I've been experiencing the exact same problem, except that I'm running XP Home and my drives are CDR instead of DVD compatible. I also have up to date Aspi drivers.

Nothing wrong with mine. I am running XP Home Edition SP2 with ASPI drivers as well. It runs great!

Well, can you tell us what kind of drives your using? Did you get any particular type of Aspi files? Any DLLs?

When I put in a CD and select Insert CD Drive, I have to select Drive E which is my first CD drive and then it says, "CD not usable: Failed to set required sector mode". What does that mean and how can I get my CD drive to work? I use XP home with service pack 2. My ASPI drivers work fine because I use many emulators that run CD games like Kega or Gens.

I have the exact same effect here, "CD not usable, failed to set required sector mode". I'm using XP home with SP1.
Could this effect come from using PAL games? I live in Europe and do not have any NTSC games, only PAL versions.
Thanks for any help! Svenny

I'm in America and I have many NTSC games. I just tried another game and the same problem. Looks like region is not the issue here.

Hi guys, To be honest I haven't tried running games off a real CD for quite some time so it probably doesn't work too well For now you can use .cue/.bin images instead. If you have an original CD you can create a .cue/.bin with your favourite CD burning app. Some apps can only create their own formats.. for example Nero only creates .nrgs, but you can convert them to .cue/.bin with something like MagicISO or my favourite cdMage (http://cdmage.orcon.net.nz/frames.html and get the 1.02.1 Beta 5 version.. bottom link). I will do some experiments with CDs and try to release an updated version soon... I have had problems in the past though with CD drives not being able to read XA sectors properly. Anyway - thanks for the feedback.

Just tried version 1.1 and here's what i'am getting: "CD not usable: Not a CD drive" when trying to use Aspi driver. and "cdrom: prefetch timed out, trying again..." when trying to use IoControl / Autodetect. So loading games from physical drives still doesn't work for me.

I run pal games on CD drive and it runs fine to me without a problem. It have nothing to do with region issues here.
