I don't think I'm using unicode at all so I doubt it'll be that... everything is using ascii. (yeah I know I should use unicode, but its a hard habit to break - when i started coding you were lucky if you had lowercase let alone foriegn language characters!)

Ok, I used the filter. But I couldn't find anything strange about the emu reading the bios files (nothing at all, only accesses to psx.ini), nor any fail message. The entire log now is about 600 lines. Do you want for me to paste the results here, or may I send it to you via e-mail? It's up to you. ProcessExplorer dind't give me any clue, also.

There is no crc check... it doesn't seem to be trying to open the file on his machine for some unknown reason (I'm attempting to find out why).

First of all thanks for the emu. I've got Windows ME (spanish) and the emu can't recognize the bios as well, no matter where i put it. Off course the bios is OK.
Best wishes and i hope you can "resolve the mystery" :-)

Well, I am using the US version of win98se, and getting exactly the same problem, so it would seem that the difficulty is not rooted in using foreign-version OSes.

After some experiments with Akualung we managed to fix the missing bios problem, but now it crashes on his machine - something to do with dx9. I have uploaded an .exe for Win98 people to test here: psxemulator.freeservers.com\pSX_win98_test.rarNote: only people running win98 should try this - nothing else is different. If this works for any of you win98/me users let me know.
