with the new .exe file it no longer claims that the bios is missing, but now it gives an error message:
b0rken Unhandled Exception
if i choose not to save a crash dump, i immediately get an illegal operation error for psxfin if i try to save one, windows completely freezes
the msdos psxfin window, by the way, displays only "pad=0" and the psX 1.0 window remains an empty frame

Odd - it works for me... anyone else had problems? No, it works fine for me as well. To -----> J, I see. Then did you put d3dx9_26.dll in the pSX's folder directory ?

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with d3dx9_26.dll, the program didn't start at all before I downloaded that dll. Now it does load, but with the new exe file it simply hangs with the mentioned "unhandled exception". I do have the dump, though, if that helps. (However, it's over 30 MB... )

Tried zipping the dump, it's 5.6 MB now, so I can email it if it's of any use to anyone.

It might be useful - I'm still not sure what the issue is... something to do with win98 obviously...
Send it to psxemulator@googlemail.com if you don't mind.
I guess no-one using win9x/me has been able to get the emulator running?

Helllo again. I decided to post here some info about the d3dx9_26.dll file and the dbghelp.dll file, in case I'm using a wrong version of the libraries:
d3dx9_26.dll -----> version 9.07.239.0000 / internal name: D3DX9D.dll dbghelp.dll -------> version 5.1.2600.0 (XPClient.010817-1148) / internal name: DBGHELP.DLL
And here is the data from dxdiag in my pc in case it may be useful (sorry, it's a bit long):

Just put d3dx9_26.dll in the same psx directory and run pSX.EXE -- that's simple. You do not need anything else. Just put d3dx9_26.dll in the same psx directory unless you didnt install directx 9c and it is good time to do that. I heard about windows 98 might have a problem or something to some people. I am not sure.

Hello,
Don't bother with this for the moment (I've deleted the file now).
After working with some others I have now got it nearly running in Win98 (it now boots the bios), but there is another problem which I'm working on (async file reads don't work in Win98)... should have it working soon.
