I know this is already in the compatibility report, but I wanted to note that as of pSX version 1.13, the progression-blocking bug is still present in Legend of Legaia (SCUS 942.54) using version 1.13 and SCPH1001.BIN.
Just wanted to put this out there as a "Hey, dunno if it'll be taken care of soon, but I'd like to be able to finish this game since starting over again this late into the game on my PSX would be a bit disappointing."

If the cutscene mentioned in the compatibility report is an FMV sequence, try this:
Press F11 (show VRAM) before the cutscene is supposed to play. Leave pSX in this mode until the cutscene finishes playing. Then press F11 again.
If this trick doesn't work, you can try to get hold of the PAL version, convert your memory card save to PAL and finish the game there. Compatibility list says the PAL version works.

Yes, the PAL version does work, Sune, excellently.
Looking at the Compatibility Lists, I think soltis is referring to the freeze/crash at Conkram in the FMV before you go into the past - never had that problem in the PAL version, in ePSXe or any version of pSX. So, yes, that would be in an FMV and there's a good chance the fix you suggested might work.

I've got this game chalked up as a green, and it probably shouldn't be, so hopefully soltis can confirm this for me. With that cutscene and the freezing, is it something that can be skipped so the game doesn't freeze without using this new F11 trick? And then, testing with F11 as well would be great.

Yes, I mean the scene in Conkram. I guess I could try to get a PAL version, but it'd be nice to have the NTSC version work, as that's what I have an actual copy of.
Tried pressing F11, but it didn't help. Here is the console output when I play that scene (I'm using Linux):

We're not talking about converting the game itself, as that really isn't possible. If you're asking about converting just the save file, all you need to do is go to this thread, read the first post, and go from there...

renn, if you want to post a save just before the Conkram scene for GM to convert (see his post), I'll play through it in my PAL version and post a subsequent save back for GM to reconvert.

Definitely possible. I could even try it on my NTSC copy and see if I can get past it somehow (which would save the need for the converting and such). Either way, sounds like we have a couple perfectly good solutions here...

Yeah... but are you only converting your save file to PAL? Converting your save and game won't help, but if you want, I can convert the file to PAL and patrickp can play through the part for you on his PAL version, if his offer is still on the table. Either way... I'll go ahead and convert the save as requested, either for him to play through, or for you to play with. For future reference, if you want a memory card converted, post the request in this thread, as I sometimes don't notice posts in this section of the forum, and many times don't notice right away when I have new PMs. Edit: That file you uploaded is a quicksave, which cannot be converted. You'll have to upload your memory card save to convert. If you don't have a memory card save, you need to either try and make one, or start the game over again if it won't let you save. Using only quicksaves will usually cause a game to eventually glitch out on you, and not being able to save to memory card is usually the first symptom of that happening.

You can't convert it. What you have to do is load the quicksave in pSX, find a save point (or the world map), and save your game to a memory card. If you don't know how to make a memory card, read the FAQ linked at the top of every page, as it gives instructions on how to do so. Once you save your game to a memory card (*if* you can save to a memory card), upload that and post the link for me to convert.

AIR there's a save point at the bottom right of the area outside the castle in Conkram or, as GM says, you can just go outside and save on the world map.

I'm in the same boat as soltis. The show VRAM trick was a good idea; however, it didn't work. I posted a request in the subsequently correct thread. Like I said there, I hate to stumble upon a forum requesting favors. I guess I'm just not used to being a n00b. haha
The staff and senior members are doing an excellent job with the regulation of legalities and requests, though. I have to hand it to you all.
EDIT: Oh! I just happened to think: I've also tried numerous switches and configurations using the awesome frontend software (kudos Ultima) that's been made available. Nothing there seems to work either. I'm not much of a coder outside of VB, HTML, and actionscript, though. I must reluctantly admit my ignorance in this case.
