It seems to be only me, but i've got nothing to work on this emulator yet! It just seems to freeze (the screen, not the PC/Emulator itself) on the screen after the Sony Computer Entertainment logo - the screen with the PSX logo on it - although it doesn't have the logo and doesn't look right. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I've made CUE files and converted the ISOs to BIN. But no luck.

If the logo looks wrong like that its usually because you have a corrupted .cue/.bin... try using another program to make them. The reason the logo is missing is because it is actually stored in the copy protected part of the CD (can't remember the sector but its somewhere near the start). This is why some cracked games replace it

Ah, I've always wondered about that actually! Anyway thanks for the tip, i'll give it a try.

Me again, I've tried all sorts now, using WinISO and MagicISO to convert from ISO to BIN (complete with CUE file) but they still won't boot. Just freezes at the logo screen still. I've tried both using the "insert cd image" and "insert cd drive" with Daemon Tools. But no luck!
The ISOs work in PCSX. Any ideas?

Try cdMage (url is in the FAQ)

Thanks for the quick replies,
I just tried CDmage but whenever I open an ISO it says "INVALID FORMAT OF FILE" - which is odd! I take it I am supposed to open the ISOs in the program?

Ah - maybe it doesn't support ISO... I thought it did though... odd. Maybe someone else here can help?
I will hopefully add support for ISO soon though...

psXauthor, you mention cdmage and you sound knowledgable so maybe you can answer this riddle I've been trying to solve.
I rip many games that I own using clonecd to .img and .ccd. The games that are single track I can scan with cdmage and it will come up with no bad sectors. However, if I load a multi-track game and scan it, it will almost always read some bad sectors at the end of the image. What's wierd is the numbers. 150 and 250 on the ones I've tried. This seems impossible to me because of the following:
1. the game cds are flawless in condition. 2. I've ripped the same with alcohol 120 instead and experience the same scan result.
So yeah, what the heck is going on here? If you've no clues, I'm going to continue to troubleshoot. My next idea is to take them to a friend's house to rip them with a different cd-rom drive. Either it's my cd drive, cdmage, or this whole thing is normal and I shouldn't worry about it. I just don't know, though

the whole thing seems to be normal in case of protected PSX Games (mostly PAL games)
some of them use libcrypt, and sometimes use "fake" bad sectors. most of sectors concerned are stored in the CD subchannels data. tools like cdmage or isobuster aren't made for detecting and replicating these copyprotections tricks, so they mark them as bad sectors.
CloneCD or Alochol are able to detect these protection, and can read them correctly, keeping the original structure of the CD (with all subchannels data).
my point is : if you'r using PAL games, don't convert them to bin/cue format, since you'll lost all copyprotection data...and there is great chance that the cd image won't work. wait for pSX to be able to load clonecd/alcohol images..this way copyprotected games won't be a problem anymore.

I was having this problem with all of my games also. I'm guessing it's because I ripped them a while ago (years...) and have switched them between hard drives. It looked weird, giving me blue SONY letters and no PS logo. I used UltraISO to convert them to bin/cue from bin/cue, and they work fine. The reason I converted them is because they worked fine in ePSXe. I still can't get Mega Man X6 or Blaster Master running so I will probably re-rip those and see if that fixes it.

Did you tried CDmage 1.02.1 Beta 5 ?? Do not downloaded 1.01.5. Try 1.02.1 Beta 5 to see if it will accept ISO.

I've managed to open them in CDmage, but it only opens them if I select Mode2/2352. If I try and select M1/2352 then it won't open them. Shouldn't my ISOs be Mode1 to work in the emulator?

My games were in different formats, so I used WinISO to save them as .iso files and then converted them to .bin. Perfect results.

Really? You should be able to open the image in WinISO... and use File > Save As to make a .iso file, then use the Convert ISO to BIN tool, somewhere in the top. It might only be for registered versions though... <_<
EDIT: You do need to register it somehow to use WinISO. If I recall correctly, the trial only supports CDs of 300-350 MB size.
