I don't think that there's a problem with what th3c0r3 said as such; it's simply that he presented it as a way of speeding up the emulator without pointing out that there could be issues. He should have warned that this is not a supported procedure, could damage your system and would mean that any issues arising from it would not be supportable.
But I see no reason why he shouldn't suggest it, or why there shouldn't be discussion on the matter.

I'm not saying that discussion is bad. But there is no point to continue arguing when the programmer of the emulator says it *will* cause problems. Not even God himself (that means *YOU* patrickp... ) can argue or oppose what pSX Author says about pSX. Basically, I had no problem with the suggestion (just that it was risky), but I *do* have a problem with anybody thinking they know better than pSX Author about how *his* emulator would handle the renamed file.
