* Switch resolutions on the fly + choose closest resolution.
My nvidia card has this nice option to add resolution modes, albeit it can't add really small resolutions, but I suppose pSX could choose the closes one (i.e. 768x480 when 368x240 is required or 512x480 when 512x240 is required) and switch resolutions as required.
It's been said many times on various other emulator forums that resolution switching will cause timing issues within the emulator because it can't be done consistently across all combinations of video cards/drivers.
So, if you got it working reliably on a Geforce card there's no guarantee that it would work on other video cards, or even the same card with a different driver.
A way to get around this could be to halt the emulation until the resolution switch was completed. But I'm not sure if that's feasible, or even possible.
It's a lot simpler to run everything at the largest resolution supported by the emulated hardware and then stretch lower resolutions to fit.
I saw that fast contoller mode swithing has been requested but my suggestion in anolog/digital mode switching in Dual Shock and Analog+rumble controller modes. Implimenting a shorcut key for PC controllers would also be nice as well as something to be able to show you what mode the controller is in as well (possibly the log window as a first step) since the computer has no way of knowing what mode a PC contoller is in in the first place. Allowing the BIOS and games to enable and disable this mode would also be nice and would put pSX one step closer to actual emulation of the Playstation game console.
The real Playstation was able to perform this action seemlessly, turning the analog mode off for gamea that couldn't use it or on for games that could and requested it. It would even lock the controller's mode depending on the game. This is evident in Ape Escape where the Playstation will prevent you from disabling analog mode since the game requires it to remain on.
The reason I'm requesting this is because it gets kind of annoying having to go into the configuation menu every time I want to change the controller mode in-game. The option to change controllers is a nice idea as I have read that some early Playstation games do not work when using a Dual Shock controller so leaving this option available for those games is a good idea. I have read that others have been asking you to fix this "glitch" to allow them to use Dual Shock controllers with these games but I think for accuracy sake that it remain. After all this problem should already be correctable by selecting "Normal Pad" for the conroller setting right?
Anyway, I just thought this might be a nice option to add to better emulate the real Playstation. At the rate this emulator is progressing it has, I feel, already surpassed ePSXe in many areas and "enhanced graphics" should have nothing to do with properly emulating a real Playstation.
Even if I agree with you, I think it will be nice to add more graphics options. Otherwise please enable the multitap support, I'd like to play with my friends .
