Hello <author of pSX>, <forum people> and everbody else I forgot
This is my first post, so have mercy.
It's kind of directed to the author of pSX.
Since I'm an emulator programmer myself (not such a successful, after all), but working on some Z80-related things (Game Boy), I wonder, why your emulator is not open source.
My projects are open source and I use versioning systems (Subversion) to keep track of it and let other people let have track of it, too.
To program an emulator, one has to start to read a lot of source, documentation, tech. papers and every piece of information you can find on the net and in books about the machine of your choice.
I did benefit a lot from source code of other people's projects, like gnuboy and some other emulators. Especially the Playstation and its components really interest me and I find it sad, that you don't open your source.
Do you plan it?
People could write components. Your emulator is highly compatible already, which amazes me! This could be a mental breakthrough for a lot of us developers who have problems writing code and understanding basics of emulation.
I really appreciate your project, after all, I'm a player and I love to play my old games again in Linux.
So, please answer me about this, I'd really like to hear about you and maybe even support you & your project!
Greetings,
Michael
P.s. My projects is up on developer.berlios.de/projects/pgbe/
Right now, the repository is kind of a mess and the emulator isn't too far, so you might not be interested at all. But it kind of loads ROMs and does some basic initialization.
