I've got odd visuals in Harvest Moon:Back to Nature. See Anyone know how I could fix that? I'm using the compressed cdz format, if that makes a difference.

There may not be a way to fix it at the moment; there are quite a few games that currently have graphical problems.

Aww, damnit. Would anyone happen to know another emulator that doesn't fuck up with this? (By the way, the weird graphical effect carries over to all parts of the PSX interface.

Lock more of a graphic card problem than an emulator compatibility issue to me... Try to update your card's drivers. Especially if you have a Geforce FX series.....

Graphics cards don't play a real role in this emulator. The emulator only uses very basic Direct3D to draw the image to the screen, and that's it. Everything else is handled by software, assuring compability between different hardwares. ... the emulator actually makes very little use of D3D - it mainly uses it to stretch a single texture onto the screen! ...

Now it seems that everything has gone dark. Is there an optimum version of DirectX for best quality video?

DirectX 9.0c is the best recommended version for this emulator. I think it's even required for it to even run. Try reinstalling?

i'v also tried harvest Moon and got no problem at all. using absolutely no special options.
here the info about my version : Harvest Moon - Back to Nature [SLES_027.81][PAL-EUR].
i'v even tried the game with the SCPH1001 (NTSC-USA) bios when i should have tried a PAL-EU one (SCPH7502 PAL-EU)..no problem whatsoever.
using an nvidia 5900XT (yeah the crappy FX series as said above), so it's not an hardware incompatibilities.
anyway, according to your screenshot, it seems you'r using some windows skinning program (maybe windowblind)...try disabling it before runing the emu.

I've got a 16MB ATI Rage Ultra, I think. Turning off Windowblinds did no good, it still looks really stupid.

Your videocard doesnt support directx 9
its a directx 6 videocard
thats why the screen does what it does
you need a new videocard asap
