No one has probably escaped the awesomeness of the Orange Box. I've been playing Portal a lot and man, it's great. I was planning to start HL2 ep 2 today, but maybe I'll just play more Portal. Anyone else? Also, if any of you guys have Steam accounts, add me to your friends. steamcommunity.com/id/preacherbobI need more friends. ;D

Tried Portal a bit, as my roommate got the Orange Box almost a month ago. It can be pretty addicting, but I didn't let myself get too addicted to it. Just enough to complete the first few levels...

Sorry for the stupid question, but what is this Orange Box?
Anyway, I have Half Life 2 here, and I like it, but DON'T love it. Its fun, but not THAT fun. But I must say that I never tried it in multiplayer, maybe I should?
Oh, and has anyone here tried Sin: Episodes? Its like a HL2 clone, but its quite fun, and even comes with a port of the first Sin game (that used the Quake 2 engine).

"The Orange Box is a video game compilation produced and published by Valve, which contains Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2." -Wikipedia ;D
I can't get enough of Portal. The game is not just great, it's also funny, which isn't too common these days. Well written games are almost an extinct species. Also started playing Halflife 2: Episode 2 yesterday, and it's already better than Episode 1 was.
I don't know anything about HL2 multiplayer options actually, only fps I've played in multiplayer are Halo and Wolfenstein ET.
I tried Sin Episodes Emergence a bit a good while ago, but my computer kind of choked on it. I should probably give it a shot now that I have more juice under the hood. I've heard that it's pretty good.

I dont have the "orange box" as such as I bought half life2 upon its original release back then, and I have since added episode 1 and 2 plus a few greats like "coastline to atmosphere", "lost coast", "antlion trooper's deuce" etc Naturally I have completed all of these great games, I just love the HL2 world, one of the best FPS games available Looks great in 64 bit mode an all.... I often hear people moaning about the Steam client wanting to update all the time etc, I love it as it means there is no need to hunt for patches and end up having to subscribe to fileplanet etc, course having 20meg broadband helps I have just downloaded a trailer for "portal" Mika, if it looks good I will be adding that one also, and at $20.00 (£10.00) its cheap..

You should know though, Portal is not an FPS, but rather a first person puzzle game. And a bit short one. But it's great, simply brilliant.

I just watched the HD trailer in Steam, looks like a good puzzle game, I like gravitational / spacial puzzles, Prey springs to mind (sorta) Soooooo I will be geting it BTW Mika, I think you will be impressed with Episode 2, plenty of new baddies and other strange things in there. sadly a little short again like Episode 1, but at $20.00 who can grumble?

Who can grumble?? Someone that lives in a crapy country like me. In here, Episode 2 is expensive enough to make me not buy it without crying...

Yes, I find Episode 2 to be quite a pleasant game. I'm probably close to finishing it, but it's so much better than Episode 1 was that it's redonkulous.
As for the prices, I'm curious, are you two talking about retail versions or Steam downloadable versions? Or does the same pricing apply to both?

I don't know, I always buy the retail games, since my Internet isn't good enough to download over Steam. Its bad enough that I have to download tons of updates, imagine the full game. And the retail here in Brazil is quite expensive, unfortunatelly. But the price DOES drop after some months.

Yeah, I know couple Brazilians on some other interweb communities, and have learned that computer hardware seems to be pretty pricy as well? Is it the taxes, or something else?

Taxes. For sure.
Brazil has some of the worst taxes in all the world. Thats why everything is soo dang expensive here. And we have taxes for almost everything, even taxes that don't exist anywhere else (let me just give an example: if you want to release a console or PC magazine here, there's a tax that will make the magazine more expensive JUST because the magazine deals with games. And if the magazine comes with a bundled CD, there will be ANOTHER tax included here).
Heck, even our gasoline is WAY more expensive than in other countries, and even has a worse quality; PCs are expensive... our food is more expensive than in most other places...
And no, its NOT easy to get a good job here, and the ones that most people get are mundane jobs, and are VERY underpaid. Just FYI, the minimum wage in here isn't even enough to buy a PS1 or a PS2...
