This place has gone far too long without it's beloved Final Fantasy poll... so now we have a new one to have fun in... ^^
Pretty sure I left out no significant titles here. Ones not released yet were left out because they won't be out for a while, and I highly doubt they'll get any votes anyway. At least we have more choices than the last poll ^^
Oh yeah, and I left out the ports and remakes. If I tried adding them all in, I'd run out of space before I got halfway through them (the limit is 35 items on a poll... LOL).
So with all that said... have at it!

At this moment, I honestly don't know what to vote for. Maybe it's been it's 8:39am where I am, and I still haven't slept yet. I can say that Crisis Core is more fun than I thought it'd be. I know part of the appeal is from the FFVII fanatic in me, but the game did a pretty decent job of making an action RPG based on FFVII (I'm not a *huge* fan of action RPG's, but there are good ones out there). FFXII still sucks just as much as it used to, if not more. FFXI is also on that list, but I've already stated my dislike of MMORPG's. I'll save anything else for later, when I have some sleep in me and there are more people here to argue discuss things with... ;D

I voted for 8 (yes, I rate roman numerals), but 6 is a CLOSE second.
8 just feels more fresh, with more original ideas. I don't LOVE the junction system, but I must say its ages better than the lame esper system of the 6 or the boring materia system of the 7.
STILL, choosing the best FF is quite hard. Its easy to chose the worst, wich is the 12th IMHO, but hard to chose the best one.

I've only actually played/beat IV, VII, VIII, and IX (sad, ain't it?). I played XII too, but never beat it. I never voted in the old thread, and still can't bring myself to vote, for the simple fact that I don't have an objective enough view of the games to pick a "best" one. I suppose I could pick out of those that I've tried, but I (pretty much) enjoyed all of them. So yeah... I still can't pick now, and I don't think I'll ever be able to pick one among them all - Easily amused admin?

I think it's not necessary to have played almost all of them. I beat only ff8,ff10 and ff12, so... heh. (even so I played ff1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,10-2,12,crystal chronicles, tactics and tactics advance... or something like this )

Ultima: Aww... you haven't even played FFV yet? You should *really* give it a try (best choice is the fan-translated SNES version for sure). Play that and try FFX if you get a chance. Playing those two should give you a decent basis for rating what your favorite is. I still haven't voted, mainly because I haven't decided what to pick this time. Crisis Core has me feeling FFVII, but FFV, FFVI, and FFT are still at the top of my list too.

Even if you can somehow enjoy the boring battle system (you must like MMORPG's, eh?), the storyline is as dull as they come, and the music is just... ugh. The only thing the game has going for it is graphics, which isn't much of anything to rate a game on.

To each their own. ;D
FF12 music is awesome, the story is great, the battle system is fantastic and the graphics are great. Oh, and the world is awesome.

I suppose you're right. I can have fairly picky taste at times with my games. FFXII just happens to be one of those games that seems to rub me wrong. For the last year or two, I've been having to stick to games that catch my interest with a deep storyline and interesting side quests, because I have so many different games to play that I almost *have* to be picky just to know what game to play.
Crisis Core may not have the deepest storyline, but it does interest me because of its ties with FFVII itself, and the game is definitely fun to play to bash on some enemies (while still requiring some thought on the harder battles). The missions are somewhat short, but there are an abundance of them to keep things going (and the rewards are worth it). The thing that bugs me about the game is how fairly random leveling up is.

Like MMORPGs is not enough to like FF12. I mean, I love WoW (I even used to pay to play that thing), but I could never like FF12...

I have always found the comparison a little silly actually. I have yet to play a MMORPG where the battle system is even remotely similar to that of FF12. But that's just me.
I think the main thing about FF12 that gets me is that it's so fresh when comparing to other FF games. Like, the story is about politics, not some ridicilous love story with a twist. The playable character isn't really the main character of the game, but rather the story of Ashe is viewed through Vaan's eyes. The battle system allows a lot of new things and newer gets boring, especially after tons of purely turn based systems. I mean, the system is still turn based, but there is more depth to it now.
The world the game sets in is quite awesome and everyone loves Ivalice, right? There is a lot of history written about it in the game, which just makes the game more believable. I just wish we could have visited the glorious Lea Monde in its prime.
And man, the voice cast is miles away from the horrible thing that some people call FFX. Whoever did the English casting for FF12 deserves a medal for the work. I especially like Balthier, just perfect casting. And the smart dialogue helps a lot too, the localization team really went all out this time.
And there are no embarassing scenes in the game. Like, in FFX, let's practice laughing, hahahaha! I mean, seriously. No one does that.
All in all, the characters are much more believable than in any other FF game to date.
And the music. Everyone knows that Uematsu has been well past his prime for quite a while and his work on FFX was mostly just horrible, and even with Hamauzu and Nakano picking up the slack, the FFX score was pretty mediocre. Smart move from Squeenix to get someone else to do the main score. Same goes for the upcoming 13 too, Masashi Hamauzu is the score composer for that as I recall. And Sakimoto in FF12 is just great, eventhough it's certainly not his best work (Breath of Fire 5 is), the score is fitting and entertaining. I've always though that his strong points are the way he uses the main melody in the other songs. Everyone does this, but Sakimoto is especially good at it, and in FF12 the theme of empire is a powerful melody by itself.
