Currently, ALSA is needed, are there any plans to add OSS4 support?

I second this. ALSA is total shit. Not only would we get a much better sound experience, but supporting OSS also means it is easier to port to other Unix-like systems. Every other Unix-like system, except Mac OS X, uses OSS. And since this emulator is closed source I am guessing that there is only one developer on this project. But maybe it's not that interesting to port it to other Unix-like systems. I know I would appreciate it though.

Why is it needed? From what I can recall, pSX Author said that ALSA was the only API that provided the best performance.

*OSS is more portable, it is the standard for almost all Unix-like systems.
*OSS supports software mixing.
*OSS supports per-stream volume control (You can choose volume seperately for evey application that uses sound), like with PulseAudio and Xaudio (Or is it just Vista as a whole?).
*Some have reported getting better quality in the sound with OSS, being able to tune the PCM volume higher than before. (I have not tested enough to verify though)
*Actually, I got better speed with OSS than I have gotten with ALSA. When turning on several advanced options for video enhancing in Snes9x, I got a small slowdown when using it with ALSA. With OSS there was no such slowdown.
*OSS has very little latency.
