I promise that I wouldn't ever say anything about games found by illegal means...
But here's the problem. When I first installed pSX in my Ubuntu 8.04, Patrick help me out with a problem needing to install the only library necessary for really playing the game, the libgtkglext1-dev.
Well, I have played a lot since that moment and now, all of the sudden, I can't open my pSX. Using the terminal for opening, I got this message:
mandala13@Amaterasu:~/Escritorio/Juegos pSX/pSX Folder$ ./pSXALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:874:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave [src/linux/sound.cpp, line 582]: 'snd_pcm_open(&pcm_handle,dev->info->device_fname,SND_PCM_STREAM_PLAYBACK,0)' returned 'Dispositivo ó recurso ocupado' pSX: pcm_params.c:2259: snd_pcm_hw_refine: Afirmación `pcm && params' fallida. Cancelado
And that's the same message that I got before installing the library! Now, I don't know what to do because I already have the libgtkglext1-dev on it's more recent version and is not working. Download the game again and is having the same trouble...
Should I kill myself...?
Hehe!
Please help me.

Look, because many PS games circulating on the internet can not be verified as good and the fact that obtaining the game that way would be illegal. Its very difficult to provide support without running to problems with the game image or with the law.
Anyway it looks like that there is something wrong with the configuration of your sound card. I'm not familiar with linux, but from what I can read I can guess that much. I've heard recently that upgrading linux may cause some problems with sound card configuration.

Sounds like an sound issue, not one with the libgtkglext libraries to me. Did you try rebooting/not opening any flash video before starting pSX?
Not that I would really know, I've never been able to get pSX working on 8.04 64-bit. Debian Lenny works just fine for me.

Okey...
Melanogaster: Don't kill me, please... It's just that... I really try not getting banned again, hehe! Please, please, don't kill me! I really promise (again, *sigh*) I wouldn't mention anything illegal.
Truth Unkown and Dfreer: Actually, after posting here, the pSX suddenly started working just fine. And now, everything is screwed (Wow, could I get banned for saying that, hehe) again... I think that the problem is a combination of problems between my crazy computer and the Sound Card. But as a fact, this has been working for me just fine, which is fine considering that after a Linux trip between openSUSe, Mandriva and some others, I prefer Ubuntu... for now, hehe.
But, thanks for your advice Dfreer; consider it a little naiveness from my part, but I tend to forget how much a flash video could affect my computer world, hehe!
But thanks for those who replied, even Melanogaster to point out that.... I didn't really kept my promise, hehe.

the pSX suddenly started working just fine. And now, everything is screwed I'm guessing it's most likely some other application that is locking up the sound card preventing pSX from using it, likely flash as this problem as been reported before. The next time pSX stops running, try to figure out if any application you used might be responsible, then reboot. Hopefully pSX should work immediately after a reboot.

More likely: Hardy *wanted* pulseaudio as the standard, Intrepid *demands* pulseaudio as the standard. pSX demands Alsa as the only sound output device. Using any other sound server causes problems like this one. See here: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=936102&page=2The Ubuntu community has put together some helpful scripts that will allow you to temporarily shut off pulseaudio while pSX runs. Yes, its a patch job -- buit it should get you by until we can convince psxauthor to change the sound system on pSX.
