I recommenced staying away from torrent packs and just look for the official sites for your emulator needs. And original game copies as well for you game needs too.

I definitely second that. Always get emulators from their official sites (unless you see on their forums that there's an unofficial build that works better).

I have the Original US release of this and fast forwarding helped me pass this. Seems counterintuitive as it normally causes problems skipping stuff.

Hi guys, it's Mark from Italy. I've started using pSX Emulator just recently and found it to be an excellent piece of software, expecially because of its ease of use and plugin-less design. The only issue I'm experiencing with it comes from my original copy of Final Fantasy VIII (SLES- 020.83 - Italian): looks like it sort of hangs after the PlayStation logo, and nothing is displayed on screen. I wonder if you could help me somehow.
I have tried different combinations of video / CD-ROM / BIOS settings (I'm used to ePSXe and know what the various options are for), but the result is always the same: the disk reads for 10 seconds after the PS logo - I'm sure it reads because the status icons and noises from the drive indicates so - then it gradually stops spinning. I used to activate ASPI reading with ePSXe and the game worked fine, but with pSX Emulator, the embedded ASPI controller is unable to recognize my DVD drive.
The drive is an ATAPI DVD A DH16AASH, capable of reading/writing DVD+- and rewritables. My PC is an i3 530 (2,98 MHz), 6 GB RAM, running Windows 7 64x. Other games such as Legend of Mana, Omega Boost and Pocket Fighters have been successfully played via pSX Emulator with 1001 firmware. Thanks for your attention.
