I'm a Linux noobie, but I want to get this emulator working in Ubuntu 9.04. I extracted the pSX folder onto the Desktop. I read the readme.txt file and I don't know if I have all of these packages installed:
OpenGL ALSA GTK GTKGLEXT libxml2
When I click on the file named "pSX," nothing happens. I've tried opening it by clicking on it, and opening it in the command line with sudo.
I appreciate any and all help given!
Thanks.

Try to kill/stop the pulseaudio process.

I'm guessing that he's running a 64 bit distribution. There are a few problems with getting pSX going out of the box here.

Most of the time, it is the pulseaudio vs pSX emulator problem. First, check in Synaptic Package Manager if you have installed libxml2 and libgtkglext1. If not, then install them. If you want pSX to work, disable pulseaudio. Just kill the pulseaudio process using the System Monitor or the Terminal, or remove pulseaudio entirely. If for some reason you don't want to remove pulseaudio, you don't want to type things in the Terminal, or you want a .deb package file, Dfreer uploaded the packages in his PPA (which is now gone), but those files can still be found here ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=394097&page=25 - post #246. You have to be a member of Ubuntu forums in order to download the files. If you are using the Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit version (i386), just download the file named "psx_1.13-3.2_intrepid-i386.deb." Install it. It is originally for Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) but it WILL WORK even on 9.04 (Jaunty). It automatically disables pulseaudio when you run pSX. It will also download the required libgtkglext1 and other required packages in the repository. After you've installed all the required files, look into Applications >> Games >> pSX. If you are using 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04, download "lib32gtkglext1_1.2.0-3.2_intrepid-amd64.deb" and "psx32_1.13-3.2_intrepid-amd64.deb"
