hi, i'm new here, but i get the gist of it all. I used to have PSXfin on my PC and it all worked perfectly. But then I got a laptop for christmas and downloaded the program again, and FFIX wouldn't work after this. All of my other games did though. I have looked on other forums and they just told me to download the ppf file for it, which I've done but can't get them to patch onto PSX. Can anyone help me? I have the original UK PAL version of the game. Computer Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.1 GHz, 800MHz FSB) ATI Mobility Radion HD 4570 3 GB DDR3 Memory Thanks

I think there's supposed to be some kind of copy protection on the game. ATM all I can suggest is to get sub-code reading enabled or build an image of the game with a drive that can read sub-code. Then again you can revisit the patch again, but I'm not to familiar about patching PS games.

pSX is able to automatically detect what support the Drive has and reports problems in the Logger/DOS/Prompt Window. You can try using the manual options in the CDROM tab of the configuration window. If you don't find luck there, I recommend following our Disc Image Guide on the PC that can read the disc properly.

I have played FFIX (sles-02965.anz) on pSX with no issues. I made images (ccd, img, sub) of my original CD's using Alcohol 52% Free. No patches, no special configuration.

Being a new laptop you might not have Direct X stuff installed yet. If you have an at least semi modern pc game, install it, and it should install what you need automatically. Or you can rummage around and find a link to the right package, I'm sure it's downloadable.
I ran into this problem after reformatting, then just reinstalled portal because I was too lazy to find a link, and it worked fine afterwards.
Have you got other games to work on the new machine?
edit: by which i meant, on pSX, but also have you ran other games on your machine yet
