Hello, for years now I am using Windows XP and the pSX emulator is runing fine there. Beacuse my computer is little old I have increase my ram from 192 MB to 640 MB. After that all games are ruuning very slow but I dont know why. For some months now I have stop using Windows and I use Debian GNU/Linux but the emulator is running more slow on my Debian . If I run the emulator from a terminal I get this message $ ./pSX (pSX:3831): GdkGLExt-WARNING **: Cannot open 8\x8fh L.so sound: underrun My computer: Motherboard: i845 CPU: Intel pentium 4 1500 MHz Ram: SDRAM 640 MB Graphics Card: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro. Does any one have any idea why?

Hmm.. Are you using fullscreen mode? If you do you may have selected too high resolution for the games. And other thing: You may have some processes running what need lots of your ram.. Like if you got open the web browser when running pSX emulator it may slow you down little bit. Have you Defragged your hard drive? You may do that at least once on month.. Or mayby you got ''junk'' files on your computer like TEMP files.. You should remove the junk files to gain some space and performance, You sure you dont have any virusses on computer? You should check your computer at least once per 2-3 weeks.

On my older PC: AMD Sempron 3000+ 960mb of ram VIA unichrome IGP That after doing all that marcus suggested that pSX run quiet well for me. Also I shut down AVG and unchecked Vsync in the graphics tab and left most of the settings at default. Even at fullscreen my computer ran pSX perfect for well over 5 hours! Viruses can also cause some major hiccups as I had a nasty worm that made my Fusion Sega CD emulator run laggy till I removed it from my hard drive. Hope this helps!
