hi all,
i love psx, i'm using the latest build. i am noticing a small issue with the screen resolution/refresh though that i hope i can get worked out. fyi, i am running psx at 1024x768 in my arcade cabinet with the video mirrored to my projector.
when starting psx, my projector loses the video synch for a second, causing it to have to lock in again.
but when exiting psx, the projector stays rock solid and goes back to the desktop without it having to find the signal.
this is a very small issue but i'm trying to get all my emu's to behave correctly with my projector and psx is one of a small handful that is causing the projector to go to qa black screen, and then resynch the video.
if anyone has any ideas, i'm certainly all ears, thanks

It could be the video card starting up a 3D mode that causes it to re-sync. There could be a feature change such as VSYNC turning on or off that's causing the video card to re-sync. I think the best bet is to see how close are the settings in pSX are compared to your video card's setting. Resolution, Color Mode (on my PC pSX switches to 32-bit when going full screen from a 16-bit desktop), Refresh Rate and VSYNC is all I can think of that pSX has some choice in the matter.

thanks for the suggestions. unfortunately, i can't find the switch to make this work without the quick resynch. there is an option in my ati catalyst control center that reads "3d refresh rate override: by default, some full screen apps operate at a refresh rate of 60hz. instead of the desktop resfresh rate. to resolve this, select the desired refresh rate override"
under that, i've selected my 84hz.
in the psx ini file, my settings are as follows. you can see i have it set to 1024x768 at 84hz.
[Graphics] BilinearInterpolation=0 FrameSkip=0 SleepWhenIdle=1 PauseWhenDefocused=1 StatusIcons=0 NTSCWidth=1024 NTSCHeight=768 NTSCRefresh=84 PALWidth=1024 PALHeight=768 PALRefresh=84 FullscreenVSync=1 WindowedSync=1 Gamma=1.000000 Brightness=0.000000 Contrast=0.000000 ScreenshotFormat=0 FullscreenAdapter=-1 FullscreenAspectRatio=1
this really is a small issue and not that big of deal. i'm just trying to make the user experience as clean as i can

What color depth (16-bit High Color, 24-bit/32 True Color) is your desktop?

it's 32 bit. is that what psx runs at? What color depth (16-bit High Color, 24-bit/32 True Color) is your desktop?

Was just wondering if that could be it and seems not. Anyway, as you said you find it a minor issue, but if you can check in Catalyst on the (in advanced view) All Settings page of the 3D menu. What settings is the "Wait for vertical refresh" (or VSYNC) is set at? I just want to see if the VSYNC default is causing pSX to resync to have it turned ON.

i really appreciate your willingness to help.
i checked the setting, it was set to always on. i tried all four settings on the slider and it's still doing the same thing. anyway, i guess i'll just have to deal with it as is.
curious if psx is still in development? maybe i could report this small issue if it still is.
like i said before, the weird thing is, it only loses the synch during start up. when quitting the emu, it returns to my FE without a resynch needed.

ok, i figured out a work around if anyone is interested. i discovered that if i start psx normally, not in fullscreen, i could hit ALT+ENTER to go fullscreen. so i created an AutoHotKey executable that hits ALT+ENTER once the emu starts.
