I ordered a Japanese-released PS1 game, and I was wondering if my US bios (scph1001 or whatever) will play it, or if I will have to use a Japanese bios for it. Thanks for any help

It depends on the game, if the game uses anti-piracy measures you can't with either BIOS (Region support is broken), but if the game requires a behavior of a Japanese BIOS you'll need it.

Well, the game is pretty rare - I've been after it for literally almost five years and only now found it, it cost 200 dollars plus shipping from Japan. So from that and the fact that it was published in 1998, I'm assuming it won't have any copy protection. As for requiring a Japanese BIOS, I couldn't say. Is there any way to tell short of actually playing the game? I won't have it for another week or two.
In any case, I'll have a new entry to add to the compatibility list lol
