Mapping fast forward to joystick buttons
First of all, please excuse my poor English.
I was trying to toggle the fast forward option in the joystick because it would make easier my “trainings” in RPG's. Unfortunetaly, psX in the current version (1.13) didn't allow me. So I needed to play with one hand while using the other to press a keyboard button which gets tiring after some time.
So I found a workaround to let me do it and wish to share with you guys.
The principle is to map a joystick button to a keyboard button. This keyboard button would then toggle the fast forward in psX.
Let's begin:
1) First, open psX, then go to File > Configuration > Misc and set the Fast Forward key to some key of your choice (SPACE, for example);
2) Go to this website www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm and download the Joy2Key program;
3) Connect the joysticks and open the Joy2Key. It will show all the joysticks connected to the computer;
4) In the right list box, double-click the button of the joystick that you want to be able of toggling the fast-forward. It will show the window below.
5) Click on the first text box and press the SAME KEY you chose in psX to toggle the fast-forward then press OK. In my case, I chose SPACE.
6) It's ready! When you press the button on the joystick, it'll be like pressing the button on keyboard which will toogle fast-forward on psX. The same can be done with the other Misc Options.
IMPORTANT:
- It's necessary that the program Joy2Key is open when you play. Just open and minimize it.
- If you don't know which button is the one you want from the list box on Joy2Key, you will have to test them. In my joystick, for example, L2 is Button 5 from the list. Do not forget to clear the ones you already tested, because if you don't, they will trigger the fast-forward when pressed. To clear, double-click the button in question and then press the Clear button.
Hope you enjoy!
