i know Tomb Raider has been discussed a lot
but looks like this one problem still got by somehow
it's only with Collectors' Edition release
one having Chicken Run and Time Splitters bonus videos
it's indexed as v1.6 on redump.org
i know this might sounds a lot like bad CD, but no, really it isn't
problem is that game requests particular sector and then checks subcode
it does this twice, once sector is requested in data mode and afterwards as audio
both times subcode is checked and game loops until it matches requested position
so if subcode does not match, game appears to freeze, looping forever
i had this issue with my CD plugin and it turned out that 96 byte subcode frame was decoded twice, once on each request
and 2nd decode would in fact destroy already decoded frame

i've included memory card with save right at position where this happens
you have to turn around and walk into a room and flip switch
when you do this first time middle door will open
and creepy music should proceed to play, but it won't
and if you flip switch again now, game will freeze
other releases of game request two different sectors here
and so they work fine
it's strange why those changes to late release were made
i've tested with several BIOSes, so it couldn't be it
and i fixed my plugin now and it works fine
so problem with this emulator could be something similar
if it is, there could be issues with other games
so i thought to let you know
also i tried to test 'subchannel Q only' reading mode
which i though should work, since decoding wouldn't be done
i tried it with Daemon Tools Lite and Alcohol 52 virtual drives
and both times game didn't work at all
music would squeak and game freeze when loading save
so something might be wrong there too
