Hello all, I've got a problem with my pSX. When I first got it it was running just fine and I played with it for a couple of days no problem. Now, for some reason, it immediately stops working upon start up. I run it and it just freezes and the window pops up saying psxfin.exe has stopped working.
Here are my system specs if it helps:
Windows 7 pro x64 4 gigs ram Geforce GTX 460 Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 Ghz
Thanks!

Is there any information provided when the Stopped Working dialog pops up when it crashes?

Only thing it says is:
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Well we need to see if there was something causing the crash outside of pSX. I would like you to open Event Viewer and find the log of pSX Crashing. It would be under Windows Logs > Application, and it should be in a list ordered by time. It would be easier to find it if you let it crash before you check the Event Viewer.

So, oddly enough, I started up the emulator just so I could get the crash report and now it miraculously works. The only thing that's changed is I upgraded my vid card from a GTX 460 to a GTX 570, reinstalling my gfx drivers in the process. I suppose that could have fixed it. Until such a time as it breaks again, consider it working.
Thanks very much for trying to help Truth :]

I'm having the exact same problem, as the emulator worked perfectly fine for months and then randomly started crashing recently.
Specs: Win 7x64 4 GB ram Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10 GHz Graphics card is a cheap stock one, I'm not sure how to find my card name on my comp.
As per your instructions, I found the error reports (I have 2): Faulting application name: psxfin.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x46d33866 Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000063 Faulting process id: 0x11f8 Faulting application start time: 0x01ccf1ebe4798049 Faulting application path: C:\Users\Will\Desktop\rom\psxfin.exe Faulting module path: unknown Report Id: 245bc7ca-5ddf-11e1-a3d5-001f16db58b6

Edit: I also updated my graphics driver with no different results in opening pSX.

I'm assuming you have DEP on for all programs and services. So I'm making a wild guess here, but you might need add a DEP Exception for pSX. In Windows 7: - Open Control Panel\System and Security\System
- Click on "Advanced system settings" and view the Advanced tab. (Quick way is to Run [Win+R] "SystemPropertiesAdvanced")
- Click on the "Settings..." button for the Performance Section (First "Settings..." Button)
- View the "Data Execution Prevention" tab.
- Click "Add..." and "Open" the executable for pSX (psxfin.exe)
- "Apply" the settings and close the windows.
- Retry using pSX.
If it doesn't work, I don't have any other idea what would stop it from crashing.
