Final Fantasy VIII (8) SLES-02080 PSX 1.13
BIOS - SCPH1002 Windows XP SP3 AMD Sempron 2600+ 1.83GHz, 1.00GB of RAM
So my problem is with FF8, I am playing the game from disc and whenever I go to load it the play-station symbol comes up and then it black screens forever, i know that others have had this problem before but the real big puzzler is that this game was working when I played it (on exactly the same system) about 3 months ago.
I have tried several different BIOS, I have tried different versions of the emulator and I even went through the gruelling task of using ePSXe just to check that it wasn't PSX specific all to no avail, and yes I am running the sub-coding on my DVDRW drive.
I really cant think what the problem is, please can someone help?

Have you tries SCPH1001? Thats the bios I use and FF8 works perfectly fine for me.
You mentioned you are playing it from a disc. You might try making an image from it instead. I've run into problems with games before that were solved like this.

Yeah I tried SCPH1001 and its still the same problem, I have thought about making a disk image but I have had heard that this can lead to loads of patching and other work arounds which I would like to avoid if I can.
I just don't get why it has suddenly stopped working when it worked so well before.
