Read through the thread, ynischa. The later links to more updated versions still seem to be live.

Alright... This is a link to the zipped files containing the program, support files, and whatever else it comes with or whatever. Basically it's everything you need to run it properly. This setup of files works for the latest release of pSX if used correctly. @any admins: Can you please modify the first post to contain this link? It is reliable (as are all the links I provide).

Well, I just randomly decided to test the search function after not being able to get any of the SP codes to work that I could find for Star Ocean (I found a couple while searching online, but none of them, including the one at CMGSCCC, worked at all), and I have to say that the search feature works very well. It only took 3 searches to pinpoint the code for modifying SP, and 2 searches to pinpoint the code for modifying FOL. So all of you having problems getting codes to work, using the search feature seems to be a nice alternative (as long as you know if the value you're searching for is 2, 4, or 8 bytes). I, of course, was using an exact value search (which is what you'll want to use whenever possible... but that's just common sense when you're searching codes).
Edit: I just noticed a really odd relation between the codes at CMGSCCC and the codes I found. Let's start with a couple examples.
- The cheat at CMGSCCC for 255 SP (first character): 8009B922 00FF - The cheat found through searching for 255 SP (first character): 8009B612 00FF
- The cheat at CMGSCCC for 65535 FOL: 8009BFB0 FFFF - The cheat found through searching for 65535 FOL: 8009BCA0 FFFF
Do you notice... in both these cases, the address for the actual code is 310 less than the address given in the listed code. This makes me wonder... is it the same for every game? Keep in mind too, that these are two different sized codes... I only used half the code for the FOL, you can tack on 8009BCA2 for even more FOL if you want.
I think I need to run some more tests with different games to see where else this might occur.
Edit 2: The Save Anywhere code works just fine as listed (decided to test a couple 8-bit codes), but the code for having the Sketching skill level maxed required subtracting 310 just as the first two codes needed. OK... I really need to test a different game now. I'll be back soon with more results...

Have you tried different versions of pSX too?

Hmm... good idea. I think I'll try taking it back as far as I can go (which is probably v1.4 I'd guess, based on remembering that kind of limit for other tests I ran). Although I'd imagine that different versions would only really affect the base address, which may or may not have anything to do with this. Well, I'll know in just a little while...
Edit: Well, just tried in v1.4... and the code was again different.
- 255 SP: 8009A9DA 00FF
This leaves me to wonder... if it *is* a base address issue. I'll retry v1.11 now, to see if maybe it's changed or something.
And before I forget... base address using v1.4 was 09B70020.
The new base address for v1.11 is 09BB0020, and the code has changed back to 8009B612 00FF. Irritating, because I see no relation between the difference of base addresses and difference of codes. Irritating... I'll look more into later I guess...

Anybody interesting in helping to solve this problem... Please see this thread and consider contributing some results. It's really starting to irritate me, but if some kind of pattern can be discovered... it'll make the problem of non-working codes a lot easier to solve in the future (that future hopefully being sooner than later). For now, just read my last few posts here, and try those suggestions if codes don't seem to be working correctly. Odds are good that they're just off by some small amount as discovered above.

Hmm... earlier in this thread I actually tested and gave the all cards code... and it was verified by the person requesting help. Did you try this one...?
"Ultimate Card Code" 50004D01 0000 30078658 00FF 50002101 0000 300786A5 00F0 800786C6 FFFF 800786C8 FFFF 300786CA 0001
The save anywhere code... well, the one for FFVII works without any modification, but of course... the money codes never seem to work. Luckily, you can use the search function to *easily* find it. Let me give a mini-tutorial to find a money code.
- Follow the instructions to get CEP started with the base address searched (as if you were gonna enter codes). - Start up the standard Calculator program that comes with Windows (or just anything that can convert from decimal to hex). - Click the Search tab in CEP, then click the Clear button, Hex button, and Dword button. - With your game started, take note of your current amount of Gil (or GP... I sometimes forget which FF uses which money type). - Use the calculator or whatever you have to convert that number into hex, then type that converted number into the Numerical Search box in CEP, then hit the Search button. - Now go back into the game and change your amount of money somehow (like buying something most likely). - Convert that new number to hex, then enter and search it just as you did the last one. - Under Result, if it says "Hit: 1", click the drop-down menu, click the code, and then click the Copy button. If the Hit count is higher than 1, do the last two steps again until it's at 1. - Go to the Cheat tab and you should probably see three lines of code. Delete the # before each line and delete the # after each line (and the numbers right after each one). - With only the actual lines of code left, change the last four numbers of each line of code to FFFF (or however much you want).
With that, you'll have infinite money. If any of that was unclear or confusing, let me know and I'll do my best to clarify it.

Is there some support for Linux gamesharking? I love this emulator more than ePSXe or any other I've tried, but it kills me that I can't use GS right now. Does anyone know anything about this? I tried the one for this thread but it was Windows only.

For the record... I've done some searching and couldn't find anything of use for Linux. Hopefully somebody else might have some insight. I'm not sure if C++ programming would work the same in Linux as in Windows, else I'd write a program for Linux to do it (I now know how to do it, but also see that CEP works fine and that the problem is with the base address, which I know little about fixing/working around in CEP).

Well, CEP is not open source, so I'd actually have to write it from scratch for Linux. That's the hard part... I know Linux about as well as I know how to write a PS1 emulator... LOL.
I'll have to look through the code differences, to see how big the differences are for something as small as CEP.

For the record, if you find the official codes to not work and are trying a code that isn't really searchable (like a "Save Anywhere" code), you could always check out this site. Run by GSHI I believe, it's basically a huge collection containing most of the codes on GSHI (and some *not* there it seems). Check out their main site and the one I just listed... they have *many* unofficial codes, some of which are alternates/better versions of official codes (for instance, they have 3 "Save Anywhere" codes listed for FFVIII... LOL). Might be worth checking out to any of you having troubles finding good codes for games...
