Ok nevermind. I seem to have figured it out. On some PSX Games, using this cheat device of course, you MAY OR MAY NOT need to use the CAELTA setting instead of Gameshark/PAR.

Going off memory (and while I might have a few facts wrong, I'm pretty sure the overall picture is correct) CAETLA is custom cheat device firmware.
To summarize, almost all of the cheat devices on the PSX have the same 'basic hardware'-- lots of pirate copies of the PAR/Gameshark hardware popped up. A Japanese developer created a custom firmware replacement with a bunch of features that aren't supported by PAR/GS. To use Caetla, you'd have to flash your cheat cartridge with the newer firmware.
Caetla supports cheat code types that were never available on the commercial GS/PAR, but is completely backwards compatible with GS/PAR codes. So, you SHOULD be able to leave it in Caetla-compatibility mode without any problems.

Hello new member here , i seem to have two problems that have been mentioned before but still can't solve them. One of them would be the one with the codes that require GS 2.2 Or Higher i have the CEP updated at 2-8-08 but still seem like these codes never work (checked multiple games including Suikoden 2 , all the Digimon Worlds and Mega Man Legends 2); and my other problem is with Suikoden 2 i have tried everything mentioned before still best result i got is a blank item with only the quantity showing ( every other code seems to work such as the max potch and resetting time and max level for all characters , the only ones that either freeze or if i put the anti freeze code , save and reload but still showing blanks are the ones concerning items and equipments) better yet for the Suikoden 2 problem just tell me the codes and method that i can obtain the Hunter Rune with , without it appearing as a blank or freezing on me. Help would be much appreciated thanks in advance.

Um...hello. I'm not exceptionally knowledgeable with this sort of thing, but I'm trying to figure it out. Currently, I'm playing FF7 and several codes I've imputed have functioned correctly, so I know it at least works.
My real question is: Is there is a workable code for CEP that can allow me to re-input Aerith into my party after disk one, or does that exceed the capabilities of the system?

It's definitely not beyond its capabilities. If you use the basic code though, you'll end up with her in the party and unable to remove her without a second code. Not only that, but cutscenes involving everybody will freeze because she's not supposed to be there (there are a couple exceptions to this, where the programmers forgot to remove her completely). So it's somewhat a limitation of the game itself that makes putting her in the party extremely difficult.

Does anyone know if my Code Breaker Disc will work with PSX. It boots up just fine, but i'm not sure if its able to access the memory to change things in the game. I've tried typing in 4 Codes off of the Code Breaker website for FF7 which I'm using as a disc image which was ripped from my actual disc and the image plays fine, but the codes don't seem to work. If anyone knows if the Code Breaker program works, kindly let me know. Until then I'll try some more, hopefully the codes were just bad. I just hate the grinding in the game and want to tweak it a little this 8th time through lol.

If the game boots with the disc, it should work fine. The problem might be with the image you ripped. I'm still not 100% sure about how that works (haven't fully researched it yet), but... what kind of image did you rip to? And have you tried the various methods mentioned for getting cheats to work? What cheats are you trying to use?

I have all three disks ripped to CCD Image and SUB
files. I'm just trying to do minor things like increased AP and EXP modifier slightly above the default rates.
the codes for those are
After Battle EXP Modifier 8009D7D8 ?? ?? 8009D7DA ?? ??
After Battle AP Modifier 8009D7DC ?? ?? 8009D7DE ?? ??
with the ?? ?? being the modifiers
I've tried using CEP, but it too cannot find the base address no matter how I set it up either. I'm not sure what is wrong with that. as I have no idea how it works.
I just want a way to speed the process up a bit to avoid the long grinds to level materia up etc etc but not so much to make it super easy with max everything early in the game which is just as boring. Any way will work and it doesn't have to be from those codes.
If you have any ideas please let me know and thanks for your reply.

I had the exact same desire and the exact same problem. I ended up just finding the codes myself. Here are the memory addresses that worked for me.
"AP After Battle" 8009D6A8 xxxx
"XP After Battle" 8009D6A4 xxxx

Did you start by reading the documentation I've included with it? pSX Author: Could somebody edit the first page of this thread (and anyplace else that may have the link) and update the link with this following one I'm now providing? It contains both the updated version and the original (the original is provided in its original, zipped form directly from Dr.Hell's website). www.fileden.com/files/2006/12/12/501739/CEP.7z

You have to make sure that APPLIST.TXT and BASEARCH.TXT are in the same directory as CEP.EXE since those two files are the ones that hold the values that go in those drop-down lists. What OS are you running, btw?
And yes, FFVIII cheats will work just fine with CEP.
