Which version is that, kinghanco? Or shall I start making remarks about reading Things to Remember when Posting Reports?

Ahhh... There are some problems that I found. I will not report the problems. Please don't ask because "E" BIOS and my "U/C" games aren't made from the same country. I quit playing for now because some issues the game is having. The Legend Of Dragoon - SCUS-94491 - First disc.

What sort of issues, kinghanco? AFAIK other people have reported success playing copy/mod protected versions of Legend of Dragoon NTSC-US?

Game screen get some graphics issues. Issue #1. The screen moved sometimes. Issue #2. There is green lines on the right side of the screen when enter a jail. Issue #3. Sprites is missing sometimes. I don't know what else because I haven't gone very far on first disc. Now you see why I quit testing this game using the BIOS that I tested with.

Gah... I somehow completely missed this thread being updated when it was... maybe I was busy or without internet at that time? I'll have to go through and make any necessary tests from these reports to see if I can make sense of them. kinghanco: Is your disc damaged or scratched in any way, and do you come across these problems in other versions of pSX? I know you don't want to deal with the problems, but if you would be so kind, could you give these few details so that I can better test it? And... if you could, try playing on one of the other discs to see if it's just your disc or not. If you need a save, go to GameFAQs and download one of the DexDrive saves for a different disc there. Then just use a standard memory card converter to use it...

Just a question but isn't there some sort of patch code used by other emulators to by-pass copy protection or fake the code to allow the game to play?

Well... the ones that *can* run the copy-protected games in question probably do so by patching, yes. However, that would be an inaccuracy depending on the patch, and would therefore not be something pSX could use. I wonder if pSX Author will ever be able to figure out/implement whatever it is that the PS1/PS2 does to not trip the copy protections...

Not really sure how this thread can be summarized. The relevant information is posted in the first thread, and there are no updates to make, short of more testing of games. Let me know if there is something else that should be part of a summary, and I'll be sure to whip one up really nice...

As you say, the main relevant information is in the first post, GM: just add a list of games mentioned as working/not working with this technique?

Actually, if you read through the thread, all the mentioned games *are* listed... In the first post, there are a few that don't work this way. While this thread is 4 pages, a lot of the conversation was taken up by discussion of Wild Arms 2 and a couple other small things... LOL.
2 games there that don't work from what I see... And there are a couple more on the compatibility list, but I'd need information directly related to running the games with different BIOS. Unfortunately, some people don't report whether they tried that or not, so I don't know. I could've swore I tested Thousand Arms and wasn't able to get it to work in any way, but I'm not sure why I didn't post it here if I did actually test it... :/

Game: Thousand Arms (SLUS_008.45 (2)) Patch Available: unknown Failed BIOS regions: US Successful BIOS regions: Europe
While this game is not listed as protected on any lists, after testing, it fits the criteria as other mod protected games: for all versions but 1.7 and 1.8, it doesn't work or only plays to a certain point with a US/Japanese BIOS, but plays fine with a PAL bios. With versions 1.7 and 1.8, it plays fine with a NTSC bios.
I tried this game out with a Japanese bios as well, but for whatever reason the game wouldn't even begin loading, so I dunno if it's me or what.

Game Title: Strider 2 Game ID(s): SLUS-01163 pSX Version(s): 1.13
Seems to be copyright protected, unpatched......works with pal bios though so you can bypass this protection.....patrickp wanted me to post this cause he said someone was compiling a list of copyright protected games that work with the pal bios....

That would be me. Thank you very much... ^^ This was one of the games I don't have personally or any kind of access to unless I bought it online.

So, where can I get the patch to play Crash Team Racing?
I have the original PAL game disk and SCPH1001.bin as my BIOS.
Thanks.
EDIT: Never mind! I just copied the game from my disk and now it works.
