Does anyone want to show off their 1337 graphics skillz and make a logo for the forums? I have to admit that mine kind of sucks but I had to throw one in there as fast as I could because I couldn't stand seeing the plain text anymore. Basically it was a logo filler for the time being. Now this one is starting to annoy me ;D. Anyone willing to give it a try? If there are some good submissions, we could vote for the best one.

Umm... I actually like the one that's there. But... maybe I'll go give a shot at making one. Haven't done anything contructive since I did the kick-off on pSX frontends... Ugh... Photoshop sucks. Using v9.0 of Photoshop, it doesn't have the text effects I need. Using Microsoft Word 97 gives me more options... which is really sad, considering I'm talking about visual effects, not simple text effects. And copy/pasting it from Word makes it harder to work on, because it'll copy as a picture, not text. I guess I better check Paint Shop Pro... it hasn't let me down yet. Edit: Initial concept for the text involved...
It's getting better, although it looked better in Photoshop than it does here... :/
Do you want the logo to be transparent (as I have it now), or have a color background, or anything? I know "anything" could make the logo look too... busy, so I was wondering exactly what restrictions you have on this. Or at least preferences.
Maybe... something like this?
Basically, I'm trying to keep it simple. If you want something more... elaborate, let us know ("us" being anybody else who might be working on a logo... XD).

Well, I could give it a shot too. I haven't done anything in Photoshop in a while, but there was a time when I made a bunch of "name-signatures" in it. Pretty generic stuff really (a character render on one side, some random abstract brushes, wonky colours, and a username with some funky effects blend over it) but I've since lost most of them anyway. This is probably one of the best I did back then. Which should tell you something about my (lack of) skill. edit:fixed the img tag

Not bad at all.
Skill level shouldn't make *too* much difference here, as I'm assuming they won't want a new logo that's too busy... so rather simple stuff can be done. Just not *too* simple... XD.

Both are not bad at all. Keep in mind that this is for the forum. I haven't discussed anything about an official logo with pSX Author. Are you planning to do the pSX emulator text Mika?

Well... I know it's for the forum. I assumed it was the title logo that you were talking about. Hence, I made it a similar size. And... I think that what Herra posted was an example of his past work, not a submission here. Unless it was... and then I apologize. :/

Yeah, that's something I did a good while back to promote StarWreck: In the Pirkinning movie. I might give a shot at the forum logo later if I can locate my brush collection somewhere. It seems that I forgot to backup it from the Photoshop folder atleast before the last fresh install. But who knows, don't let me keep you from changing it if someone else than me makes a good one. If I end up making one, I might use it when I link here from my homepage. Whenever I get the site done, that is.

A similar size as the current one. It doesn't have to be exactly the same dimensions. The preferred format would be png with alpha channels.

This is probably what TCOS is referring to:

Mind you, The_KeepeR's suggestion is not without merit...

This is probably what TCOS is referring to: And because Ultima didn't mention it, it's part of the "default" skin, you can change your skin from your profile settings. Hey Mika, isn't that the movie that has the moderator of the mame.net boards in it? lol I wouldn't know, I've never visited mame.net boards. It's a Finnish fanmovie parody thing about Star Trek and Babylon 5. Free to download. So, if the guy is from Finland, or close enough, maybe so?

I would guess the dimensions would preferably wanna be kept below 500x150... or maybe even 500x200 (which would be pushing it for height), as the max limits. I think making them any bigger would start to throw off things... make them look a little weird and just... off.
