The Super Joy Box 5 Pro will not let me configure each thing in the Controller Setup.
You see, when I click on something in the Controller Setup, a highlighted black bar appears in each of the boxes, systematically making its way to the last box.
Apparently, this particular PS1/PS2 Gamepad to USB Converter is currently not supported by pSX.
I tried both version 1.2 and version 1.3...
Oddly enough, when i select "None" as controller (so i can use the keyboard) the keyboard works okay.
By the way... The Soyo Kiky-Joy (single PS1 to USB Gamepad Converter - the pink one) works fine (even in Windows XP) in version 1.2 and 1.3 but I just bought the Super Joy Box because it is advertised to:
~ Be able to connect up to 4 ps1 or ps2 gamepads at a time.
~ Have support for dance mats.
~ Have support for light guns.
~ Have support for Rumble.
Here's where i bought it from:
www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-6m-77-1-49-en-15-super%2Bjoy%2Bbox-70-qc4.html
Here's the manufacturer's website: www.mayflash.com
P.S. I've been trying to use this gamepad converter with pSX with the converter's driver disk installed. I'm gonna uninstall the drivers and let windows auto-load some generic HID drivers and test that out.
=EDIT=
I tried the idea I had written about in my "P.S." and my results were the same (ie: no workie right).
This time, however, I went ahead and I loaded up FF IX - Disk 2.
At the "New Game / Continue" screen, the cursor (the pointing-floating-hand-thing) madly went up and down on it's own.
It was kinda disturbing...
Note: For anyone reading this, it's not a FFIX issue, it's a gamepad converter issue, as my old kiki-joy converter doesn't freak out like this.
=Edit 2=
I just recalled reading somewhere that there's an emulator or two that currently only works with single-pad converters and not with a multi-pad converter.
If this applies to pSX, I'll probably just have to be patient, use my old converter, and hope for the best.
On a happy [off topic] note, the new converter of mine has allowed me the ability to map all of the buttons on a PS1/PS2 gamepad in Magic Engine. My old Kiky one wouldn't let me assign a function to the Start and Select buttons in Magic Engine (and that was bugging me).
Now, at least, I'm ready for the two new homebrew games they're working on over at Frozen Utopia for the Turbo Duo...
