That's why I knew that ccd/img/sub could be CDZ'ed...
But yeah... maybe it's because since pSX Author worked on this specific compression himself, he knows exactly how to handle it. Are any other good compression types open source?

Hmm... Sorry... I guess I didn't really address those questions all too well... Quote from pSX Author: So basically, he specially designed CDZ to be able to easily support random access for disc reading. Also, making a ccd/img/sub image into .cdz *will* add all three files, even though when you're actually converting them, it'll seem (from the displayed file size of what's being converted), that it's not processing the .sub file, but it really is (which you can see if you decompress it again). So yeah... hopefully that more fully answers what you wanted to know

Yep, cdz files contain all of the information from the original source files which is why converting them back gives you an exact reproduction of the originals.
When processing ccd files the sub file is interleaved with the img file for efficiency but thats about the only change it makes (and it is obviously easy to undo that when converting back!).

So does this mean that ISOs compress too? I no longer have any ISOs, but according to this thread 1.8 didn't compress ISOs.

pSX Author,
Can I use the cdztool.exe to rip a cd from a cd drive?
If so then what is the command line I need to put in the bat file?

You can't do that, you have to make a CD image first.
Also, you don't "rip" to .cdz (yes I know you didn't write that just now, but you did somewhere else).
Think of .cdz as a .zip file, specially arranged for CD images.

Hmm... Sorry... I guess I didn't really address those questions all too well... LOL Heh, actually that was high quality sarcasm, though 100% unintentional because it was not meant to be a reply to your post! I was replying to Ultima who posted a link to the pSX wiki on the previous page of this thread. Sorry about that! -Sune

Ahh... it was no problem. I still hope your questions were adequately answered now, cuz I've just about exhausted every cell of intelligence in my head right now... XD Yeah, the wiki itself wasn't useful to the questions, but the link I found at the bottom as a reference was actually where I found the thread that I pulled pSX Author's quote from

Hm...? The wiki actually answered everything Sune_S asked (including what you wrote just above), which was the exact reason why I simply linked Heh, actually that was high quality sarcasm, though 100% unintentional because it was not meant to be a reply to your post! I was replying to Ultima who posted a link to the pSX wiki on the previous page of this thread. Wait, now you've got me confuzzled... I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic about the link now

I could've swore that when I looked a day or two ago, all that information was not listed under the supported images section. I don't even remember seeing half of that information being there... certainly I don't remember it being so detailed.

Wait, now you've got me confuzzled... I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic about the link now heh, no it's quite simple, GM thought I was replying to him. If it had indeed been a reply to his post it would have been an overly sarcastic reply. That's all. Let me rephrase to clear up all the confusion: Ultima, thank you for posting a link to the Wiki, it answered all my questions nicely. I'll try to improve on my quoting skillz.

lol no problem @gamesoul Master: Most of the information was certainly there when I posted the link, and I added the extra bit regarding multiple files immediately after I linked to that section. I know for sure, as did edit it I advise you to stab your browser's cache system... Even if it doesn't help, you'll feel better ;D @mika: No clue, as I haven't ripped a disc into ISO in the longest time
