One thing which has me wondering about the PSX "BIOS" in the PS2: The first 512K (4Mbits) of the PS2 BIOS looks identical to the PSX ones, but it doesn't work as a straight rip (last checked in ePSXe though).

I guess that's not impossible, Heihachi, although the Playstation 2 contains the electronic equivalent of an original Playstation, that presumably would need an appropriate BIOS to run with. And it's not surprising that BIOS wouldn't work with a Playstation emulator either, as the original Playstation elements would need to communicate with the rest of the Playstation 2, and hence would need some different instructions to those an actual Playstation has.
