Minimal disk access, near-constant 0% CPU utilization, and memory usage plateauing at just over 2MB. Awesomely tiny, simple, yet capable audio player... Yum
The player already supports a LOT of file formats to begin with, but you can get some more plugins so that it can support more file formats too, though they're all supplied by the author only -- no third party plugins, which can suck a tiny bit, but not too much (you can use any BASS input plugin). Even with all the plugins and stuff, the size of the player's directory is LESS than 1MB. While filesize isn't a big deal to me, it's just amazing
Of course, its simple approach to music playing might not be everyone's cup of tea. Personally, though, I simply open my audio player (foobar2000 before), hit play, and minimize -- no fuss, no hassle. Skinless is a big thumbs up for me, especially since I'm not going to be staring at the player, and I want to minimize resource usage. Skinless, functional, and resource unintensive were the main reasons I switched to foobar2000 (from Winamp) in the first place, but Evil Player is starting to win me over ;o
I'm still going to keep foobar2000 around, as it's still awesome, and has plenty of other features (like the file converter), and it can also play some files that Evil Player can't (PSFs, for example). But for normal usage, it's Evil Player for me now
(lol sorry if that sounded like advertisement, I'm just amazed with the player ;D)
Edit: Something worth noting, though, is that I'm not exactly an audiophile, so I can't exactly compare playback quality against other players, but at the very least (FWIW), it sounds perfectly fine here
